oh and
6) Houston is a huge loss to pass defense. best cover backer on the team, perhaps in the league and the dude is a huge motor during pass defense. his loss is big. hopeful he comes back 100%.

They started puking up pts. This defense was always high risk - high reward. I think this D will be fine vs. 1st round teams. I'd be confident playing anyone. But the Pats or Donks? When we play a QB that can make quick fire decisions consistently and negate our pass rush?...

I wouldn't necessarily disagree but like I said I would make that trade you can have all the passing yards you want but no points and it happened with Campbell, Keenum and Fitzpatrick but none of them could generate more than 17 points offense and in order to win in the NFL you have to be able to score more than 17 points

Against good QB's the blitz won't get there because our DB's can't cover long enough to allow the pressure to get there. If you're going to Blitz you need to have the DB's to punish you for chucking it up. Right now, QB's are completing damn near everything. They're identifying the 1v1 matchups and throwing it up. Our DB's don't have the ball skills and our safties are often out of position to make the QB pay for it. Like you said: Risk vs Reward. And right now the Reward for going deep on the Chiefs is far greater than the risk....especially if the DB you're attacking is Cooper is has been Bartee like with getting his head around. |

Former coaches on espn are talking about Sutton being to safe yet some on here know more than these guys who study film all day. Some of you act like you know the secondary coverage calls. Are the safeties playing outside - in or inside-out? Are the safeties playing cover 3 or cover 4 with a robber on the under routes? None of us know the calls so it's to easy to blame.

Off the top of my head just thinking back, I can't remember more than 5 blitzes in that game, 2 of which were late in the game, and succesful and pivotal in the win.

Smith is the most Bartee-like corner on this team. The guy is consistently in position to make a play and almost never does. His situational awareness is $3it. You can excuse some of that in a rookie like Cooper. He should get better with time. Smith is a different story...

When the Chiefs faced Manning/Rivers they got Gaped, cummed in and left on the curb. |

Lets be real here too though guys, this defense, especially the scheme, is predicated on Houston, Hali, Poe especially getting pressure and being hellbats.
Obviously Houston is out, Tamba isn't looking to be 100 percent yet, and Poe is running on fumes. |

Good QB's eat up blitzes.
You aren't beating Manning with blitzes. You beat him with constant pressure form your front. |
