It will be fun to bump the Geno threads in a few years.

The views are so extreme on either side of the issue, somebody is bound to get embarrassed.

I'm a Chiefs fan. You cant embarrass me anymore than this franchise does day in and out.

We quest for 9-7, retread QB's and Fail... Whether or not Geno pans out or not, We will still be embarrassed with our failings on Sunday afternoons for being a chickenshit franchise....

8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Because the Stanzi era (Iowa style) was fun. As dumb as it sounds and as unlikely as I think things are for Stanzi to become anything, anywhere in the NFL, since we signed Alex Smith (who I hate) and Daniel (who my feelings are completely apathetic towards), I am back on the Stanzi-wagon. Yes, I know it's a pipe-dream, but my confidence in the Chiefs doing ANYTHING under Alex Smith is zero....so why not? It's not like I'm personally losing anything by stepping back on the wagon.

I'm also personally biased. I've met the dude a few times and have hung out with him twice and he was really cool both times. I think I posted the stories on one of these Stanzi threads, but the first time was at the dorms when he was a true Freshman and not expected to start for the Hawkeyes, ever...he was expected to be sitting behind Jake Christensen, who was expected to be a potentially elite QB for the Hawks. Stanzi beat him out the following year. Anyways, he was acting silly-drunk and his buddies were clowning on him for being something like 4th or 5th string at the time and virtually unknown by everyone at the time. He was a good sport about it. In fact, he went along with the jokes and said something along the lines of, "yeah baby! Career backup! I'm just here to partayyyyyyy!!!!" After being clowned on by the entire group, one of his buds did say something like, "just kidding man, I think you can surprise people." And Stanzi, still calm and smiling, was like, "well, I'm gonna stay after it."

The next time I sort of hung out with him was at an apartment the night of the Tim Dwight football camp the summer prior to his Senior season. One of my best friends was a clinician there. Well, that's what he told me anyways..I don't know why they'd want him there to be a clinician...he was University of Dubuque's mediocre running back. I'm pretty sure he just imposed his will on someone and somehow ended up there. Somewhere along the line though, he attained a couple Hawkeye affiliates' contact information because that's where we ended up hanging out at that night when we pre-gamed for the bars. A few people entered and exited throughout the night. Stanzi was one of them. He came off as way different than he did as a Freshman, but was still real cool. He was more laid back and chill this time and I talked to him a lot about 70's bands he liked, like Lynard Skynard, The Doors, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, etc.

Anyways, as unlikely as I know it is, I still want this guy to do well for the Chiefs IF we don't draft a QB of my liking, because I like the dude and because I have no faith in the Alex Smith-led Chiefs.

I misinterpreted your original reply. Thought you wrote, "I don't know why I wrote so much about a QB who never picked up garbage time." Not sure how I messed that up. Mi malo.

But, nah...I'll still know why I wrote all the useless garbage....In 2 years, I'll remember how much I hate Alex Smith and Matt Cassel and how little faith I had in them. I'll also still remember the closest I've ever been to making a full-fledged transition to being a Hawkeye fan...which was in the Stanzi-era. That was the only era where I've truly been into the Hawkeyes. It was fun to follow, especially during Stanzi's Junior season.

I just can't get hyped up for the Alex Smith era...at all. I have no confidence. Which is why I'm still on the Stanzi-wagon if we don't draft a new QB. Not that I'd have confidence in that situation either, but the fun factor for me personally would be higher.

Unfortunately for Stanzi he is still an unknown.

The Chiefs only start QB's who have shown they aren't anywhere near elite status.

I disagree. He couldn't even advance up the Chiefs depth chart. And with the trade for Alex Smith and signing of Chase Daniel he'll be right back at #3 on the depth chart, if he's lucky enough to even make the roster. He's been terrible in the preseason. Pretty clear he's a never was and a never will be.

Just a shame that Stanzimania is going to give way to the Daniel homers.

I think they are both trash at this point. No way either one of them can be a #2
