ATT to impose DSL/Uverse cap

http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/13/a...-overage-fees/

150 gigs for landline DSL, 250 for U-Verse. $10 for each additional 50.

Thoughts?

I have had them before. Surprisingly their 3mb speed is just as fast as the Cox 3mb speed. Imagine that.

Why did you switch to Cox?

The promo they had at the time. It runs out in a couple months anyway. Plus, I had never tried a cable based ISP before so I wanted to see if there would be any difference. There wasn't.

Yeah, if you live close enough to a node, the DSL is just fine. In my experience, out of Comcast, Time Warner, Sunflower, Surewest and U-Verse, Comcast has been the best as far as PQ, VOD content, ping and bandwidth go. Time Warner has by far the nicest features so it's second. I hated everything about U-Verse except their blazing fast DVR UI.

Oh and Sunflower was a complete abortion of an ISP. They had a monopoly on cable in Lawrence so they were instituting 18GB bandwidth caps back in 2006 on their most expensive Tier. I don't know what it's like now, I'm sure the cap is higher now, but it I think it used to be 6GB/12GB/18GB back in the day.
