I'm going to Vegas, baby!

OK, just got done booking a trip to Vegas in April. This will be my first time. Actually it will be my first real vacation ever. I have a few weeks to plan and I want to see as much stuff as possible.

Hit me with your recommendations. I want to know what places I need to visit, restaurants can't be missed, sights I should see. Trying to keep a budget so dropping big money on a bunch of shows isn't really my thing. I might gamble a little but I'm not big on gambling. I will be looking for photo spots though. I will be bringing my camera and taking a ton of pictures.

So what do you think, Planet? What do I need to see in VEGAS?

Fremont is the more "shady" side of Vegas now but that's where the "old Vegas" deals still happen.

Actually I just realized, our show is at 7PM Thurs. at The Mirage. So it'll have to be Fremont in the morning.

Take comfortable shoes, because the signs look close but they are a long way away. Get up early in the mourning and walk up strip, you are on south end. Get up to NYNY and MGM and there is tons of free things to see. Roller coaster on NYNY, cool stuff in MGM ect. Watch for trams because you will get tired of walking. There is a tram way in the back of MGM that goes up to Bally's, Flamingo and many other points northward. If you like Italian food or like me your laddy does go to Batista's Hole in the wall. Very cool place. Its behind Bill's Gambling Hall on a side sreet off of Flamingo Bvd. All the old acts used to hang out there and they have really cool stuff if you are into that sort of thing. You don't have to spend lots of money to have a good time.

OK, I think I've got it pretty much planned out:

• Arrive Tues, chill out at the hotel
• Rent a car, spend Wednesday driving to Hoover Dam, Valley of Fire, Lake Mead
• Thursday morning eat at Hugo's for lunch and walk around Fremont
• Thursday night see Cirque, walk the Vegas strip and see the casinos and the lights
• Fly back Friday

Should be fun!

I already have a bunch of restaurants on the list but I will see if we can squeeze it in. Yes she does love Italian food.

Take a Taxi to Freemont at night even if it after your show. Its a must. Very cool and a good time. Hang out out on the street and watch lite show a couple times. Street vendors sell beer and drinks, cigars ect. Make time if you can.

They literally sale them on the street.


I called Imperial Palace and they told me they haven't had the horserace table for years due to maintenance cost. Check out the MGM like a previous poster said.

Almost forgot, go to Paris at night and go up the tower experience and stay long enough to watch the fountains at Belogio, right accross the street, from far above. Verrrry cool. It cost to go up but you can stay as long as you want and can see entire strip from up there.

One more thing, that chill out thing aint gonna happen for ya. Being a first timer tou wont sleep more than 3 hours a day.

You're probably right. I just want to leave travel days open without any specific plans. I don't want to stress out about missing a flight or something. Since we're flying back on Friday we can stay up all night Thursday if we want and crash after we get back.

Aw Hell, I missed that Hoover Dam was on his "must-do" list. I rented a car out there ONCE. NEVER again. I found it to be a big pain in the ass.
