I'm going to Vegas, baby!

OK, just got done booking a trip to Vegas in April. This will be my first time. Actually it will be my first real vacation ever. I have a few weeks to plan and I want to see as much stuff as possible.

Hit me with your recommendations. I want to know what places I need to visit, restaurants can't be missed, sights I should see. Trying to keep a budget so dropping big money on a bunch of shows isn't really my thing. I might gamble a little but I'm not big on gambling. I will be looking for photo spots though. I will be bringing my camera and taking a ton of pictures.

So what do you think, Planet? What do I need to see in VEGAS?

EDIT: Here's the link to the pics: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...&postcount=106

Thanks everybody!

There is an In-N-Out burger not too far from where you are staying. Everyone should at least try it once if you haven't already, IMO. 4X4 animal style.

Mechanical horse races are pretty fun when you get a good group of 10-12 player going. Bar was 2 seconds away and the waitresses hit us every cycle. Good times.

Now that I am older we stay at Paris.

I hear you; when I was a kid we roadtripped out there and slept in the car the first night becasue there weren't any rooms.
My comment came out shittier than I meant it to sound. Probably should have kept that one in my head.

You absolutely have to do Fremont Street. Its sooo much cheaper than the strip. You also HAVE to have a steak dinner at Hugos at the Four Queens (Fremont). Killer steaks and its old school gangsterlike Vegas. Plus Fremont has ziplines,..which is kind of cool. Outside of that, just walk around and have fun..it is sensory overload your first time--BUT FREMONT AND HUGOS IS A MUST!

Take it from a local.

Probably the best thing we did besides going to the Hoover Dam.
It's not a bar, it's a small casino called Bill's Gambling Hall and Saloon.

But he's right. Big Elvis is a rather large man, but does a great Elvis impersonation. And Bill's is just a fun place to hang out anyway.

The MGM still has a mechanical horse racing game. I believe its the only one left in Vegas. It's a blast late at night when you're inebriated, especially when all the spots are full. Try not to yell at your horse with all the other drunken idiots. You can't.

Timeshare hawkers. You can avoid them by never walking side by side past them with your wife. They prey on couples. If they do spot you and ask if you want to see a free show, just ignore them and keep walking.

Now THAT'S what I'm looking for. Quirky shit that I would never think of but would be a blast without dropping a ton of money.

You're going to have to be more specific. Name a venue.

That would be perfect though. Cheap places to get drinks and cool stuff to see. Gambling is for suckers. I'd rather spend my money on booze.

Time share? **** that. I don't buy things from people that approach me anyway. Especially in a strange city.

Still hammering out our itinerary. Can someone tell me which is the 'real' Hash House? A google search turned up several hits.

You need to go to Fremont at night to see the light show. And they usually have live music going on down there in the evenings.
