The guy who plays Sam in Casablanca -- can't play the piano worth a damn. He's a drummer. The piano was played by someone else.

Speaking of Casablanca -- Humphrey Bogart was a relatively obscure actor usually playing secondary bad guy thugs until George Raft -- then a big star -- turned down lead roles in several movies you may have heard of: High Sierra and The Maltese Falcon. Raft's career went downhill and Bogart went on to become one of the biggest stars in history off that launching pad.

Speaking of Bogey -- pretty short, about 5'8". He often wore platform shoes or they played with angles, or either him or the leading lady sitting, to downplay the fact that he was no taller than (Bacall) or actually shorter than (Bergman) some of his more famous leading ladies.

Richard Burton has often regretted out loud having turned down the role of Captain Von Trapp in The Sound of Music. The role went to Christopher Plummer who ironically has hated the picture, often calling it "The Sound of Mucous."
