Would You be OK With Trading Bowe For a 1st?

Lets say a contract cant be worked out because Pioli and Bowe are too far apart and it looks like Bowe will walk after this year or the only way to retain him is to tag him again.

Bowe has a 1100 yard season with 8-10 TDs and Baldwin has just over 1000 yards and has 7-9 TDs...would you be OK with trading Bowe to a team like Cleveland, NY or Miami for a single first round pick before next year starts?

The first round pick would fall into the 15-20 range.

People who diet and exercise become thin.
You are thin.
Therefore, you must diet and exercise.

No...you're just naturally thin, and despite having a diet of mayonnaise and gin, you manage to not put on weight. When your natural ability to do so declines, the weakness of your cunning plan will be revealed.

No one is arguing that no wide receiver has ever been good, they just have good quarterbacks.

What we are arguing is that it is MORE valuable to have an excellent quarterback and mediocre receivers than excellent receivers and a mediocre quarterback. When your flaw is at the point of origination (the QB), you will not have a single part of your system that isn't flawed.

I understand that just fine. You did not say that. You said the quarterback makes the wr not the other way around. If that's the case, Cassell has made Bowe a probowler. Why do we need to get rid of him?

Your words, your logic. Please explain that to me or perhaps you can call me ignorant again as a copout.

Bowe is a Pro Bowler with Cassel.

With Rodgers he might be a HoFer...

Actually, I think Damon Huard made Bowe.

I'm simply floored that people still don't understand what it takes for a team to acquire a top rookie QB in a draft these days.

It's going to be a LONG time before someone with Ben Roethlisberger's talent falls to a team like the Chiefs in the teens/20s again. Those are NOT options.

Bowe isn't even worth a second, maybe a 3rd, but if we can find some team stupid enough to give us a 1st, send him packing.

Thanks to the new CBA and the value of Day One picks compared to a few years ago, the days of trading 1st round picks is over, IMO. At least trading 1st round picks for players. You'll still see teams give them up for draft picks.

You're going to see more and more deals like Brandon Marshall's, where a team is willing to give up multiple mid-round picks.

1st round picks are more valuable than they've ever been - teams are going to hang on to them unless it nets them a high pick (RGIII) in return.
You have to give up 2 first round picks for a franchised player.

The only difference between a non exclusive and exclusive franchise tag is that non exclusive can negotiate with other teams while exclusive cant.

You are mixing up franchise tag with a tender offer similar to what is up for Wallace, I think.

The problem with that logic is that you did not say it's the only way to become thin. To make an airtight assumption you would have to say "only people who diet and exercise become thin" or the quarterback makes the wide receiver.

I can do this for days, all I want is the ignorant ass to admit its more than one or another, its the combination of the 2.

Also take into account that the only reason we are currently under the cap by 15 million is because we got to rollover 20 million from last year.

That was a one time thing.

Ah so now you include assumptions as part of your argument. Please name that awesome quarterback who was throwing to steve Largent.

It's an assumption to think Bowe would be better with Rodgers?

I can't believe you are even trying to argue against that. Amazing.

A player that relies on another player to get them the ball at a specific time and location is not going to be better with a QB that is infinitely better at doing both. RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT!
