Not true. At the highest levels (around 1300 feet), you would not be at a high enough altitude to gain enough speed to pass out before you hit the ground. I don't know where you get the "dead before you even hit the pavement" comment from. The only thing that might cause you to die would be a heart attack, but that's hardly a given.

It's a pretty amazing song. When it first came out I'll be honest, my first thought was he was trying to cash in on the tragedy and I didn't like that. Since I heard the story of how it came to be and what his thoughts are on it I changed my mind and just appreciate it for what it is... an extremely heartfelt reflection and well written song.
