Matt Cassel reportedly losing support among Chiefs
Matt Cassel reportedly losing support among Chiefs
With four subpar games under his belt, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel is catching heat for the team's ugly 1-3 start. Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports reported the fourth-year starter is "losing confidence from players and many others in the organization." If Kansas City had someone more intriguing than Brady Quinn at the No. 2 spot, Cassel would be destined for the bench, according to Cole.
Cassel has struggled with just five touchdowns against seven interceptions. His 70.4 quarterback rating exceeds only that of Mark Sanchez, Ryan Tannehill, Brandon Weeden and Jay Cutler. Chants for Quinn and third-string sensation Ricky Stanzi bubbled up at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday during the Chiefs' 37-20 loss to the San Diego Chargers, but a switch at quarterback would require Pioli to admit defeat after years of insisting Cassel, his personal pick under center, had the goods. Cassel's 19-24 record has frustrated fans, as have his struggles against some of the league's weaker defenses this season. Cassel littered the field with three interceptions in Sunday's loss, but Romeo isn't budging. "I could have taken (running back Jamaal) Charles out because of his struggles and his problems, but he's also the one who can run for a touchdown," Crennel said. "(Those are) some of the decisions a head coach has to make and you have to go with your gut feeling, and what you know about your team and then move forward with it." What Crennel also knows about his team is that inserting Quinn into the starting role won't solve a larger problem in Kansas City. With young talent on both sides of the ball, the Chiefs were an enticing pick in the AFC West before the season. Finding out you don't have a quarterback, however, tugs the entire operation back to square one. |

^^^Without a doubt. Who else can possibly compete?
Montana, but it was a short period in the poor side of his career. |

Yup. Green would have this team at 4-0 IMO.

I would say we would be 2-2 or 3-1. Atlanta is a tossup in my mind, Trent always competed in shootouts, but it's hard to know where that one would have gone. (I'd like to think we would have pulled it out at home) I still think we would have dropped against Buffalo, the game started badly, was on the road, and nothing seemed to go right at any position. We would have destroyed New Orleans, many of those field goals would have been touchdowns. I also think we would have pulled it out against the Chargers, Green wouldn't have had those turnovers and would have capitalized from the opportunities that SD gave him.

I do think that Green would have victimized their SS and LCB, while also utilizing Boss/Moeaki down the seam as the Bills have struggled there. Only fantasy though. |

It's obvious to anyone who knows this team that they've lost faith in Castle since the beginning of the year. I think in 2010 they were willing to give them the benefit of the doubt because he has decent leadership qualities, and he was improving almost every game. But for some reason in 2011 he seem to lost all his confidence and regressed. Maybe it was after that playoff game. But whatever reason it's obvious to anyone with a brain that this team was discouraged to go into the season with Matt Cassel as their only option.

What happened to Jim Zorn's magic that he was going to work? Is he still even on the team?

I don't think Zorn or anyone for that matter could make chicken salad out of this chicken shit.
