He's not Cassel, he's Deberg.

at least, I'd say that's his floor. Either way, it's not good enough to go the distance, which is what we're all pissed about, right?

I assume that Reid thinks he can take Smith to the next level, and perhaps he can. Let's be really clear about the 9'er offense: Kaepernick flourishes for a few physical reasons, and as a centerpiece of the read-option. Smith, being a traditional pocket passer, just ran the normal NFL style offense there. Yes, they ran the ball and played defense-they still do that with Kaepernick. Yes he gets more yardage as the defense has to play him differently. He's also a freak athlete and runs for a lot of yards.

My point is that it's possible Reid CAN get more production out of Smith. It also seems that Reid and Dorsey are unimpressed with Geno and the rest of the possible first round crew. Maybe not though. Maybe they've got a trade down plan in place and have possible partners in line.

The thing that bothers me the most is if they really did give up a #2 and not just swap #2's then we lose the opportunity for a Nassib/Emanuel/Dysert type project. Possibly even a shot at Barkley, who might fall due to the injury.

I'm sorry that there is no evidence to suggest that Alex Smith will win with the Chiefs. Look at the landscape of the NFL.

However much you may want that to be true, it doesn't change what is true.
Sure there is. You just don't wanna see it.

As I've said before, ChiefsPlanet has become Fox News. The circle jerk is so strong that people assume everyone else is completely wrong and are surprised when things don't go their way.

Do you want to name some other guys that went middle of the 1st round? Rodgers, Ben, and Flacco come to mind off the bat. Better not draft those guys 1st! That's not value!

Is Jim Harbaugh walking through that door? Are Aldon Smith, Justin Smith, and Patrick Willis walking through that door?

I'll tell you who is walking through that door: a guy who went 1-14 on third down when his team needed him to convert. A guy who wasn't wanted by any NFL team in FA last year. A guy who lost his job to JT O'Sullivan, David Carr, and Shaun Hill. A guy who has played a full season twice.

Geno Smith is more mobile than Smith, he's got a better arm than Smith, he's younger than Smith, and he's more accurate downfield than Smith all right now.

Again, it's not about Geno Smith, though, it's about drafting and developing your own QB.

But please, make another wonderful analogy like that LaRussa debacle.

I voted C (and gave it a 6 on the 0-10 scale in the poll here). In other words, I am less in favor of this move than a majority of the Chiefs fanbase. That should tell you that SOMETHING is majorly askew.

Where?

2004-2013

What is the commonality between all of those QBs?

1) They were all drafted and developed by the team they won a SB with
2) They never lost their job to ineffectiveness or injury.

Alex Smith fits which of those parameters?

You gave Smith credit for being in the AFC title game, by that logic shouldn't teams have been beating down Trent Dilfer's door since he won a Superbowl?

Is DEB CAPS representative of the Chiefs fanbase? For the most part, hardcore fans post on sites like CP, and these individuals are typically the most informed; they are not the Joe Fans of the world.

Jake Plummer once beat Tom Brady in a playoff game and played in an AFCCG. You can win a SB with him too.

Who thinks Alex Smith has anywhere near the heart that Deberg had?

That was Deberg's strongest quality.

The hell it's not Geno Smith...who else are you gonna draft this year? Tyler Bray?

Geno Smith is younger than A. Smith, I will give you that. Other than that, we have no idea how he will perform on the field. Most "experts" say he is less than stellar.

Oh, and less time I checked, you do have to get into playoffs to win the thing. The more times you get in, the likelihood of winning rises.

Thus the TLR analogy. I am sorry you are too simple to see that.

So the goal is just to make the playoffs and then hope to get lucky.

That must be why Tom Brady has been to five Super Bowls and Ben Roethlisberger three. They're just luckier than everyone else.

Your LaRussa analogy, and it's pathetic that I have to tell you what your own post said, was that these guys made odd moves but we should trust them. It said nothing about rolling the dice in the playoffs.

You're either lying to beautify a false point, or you need an MRI.
