I read an article on The Kitchn about tips a maître d learned by working in a 3-star restaurant, and it made me think about a comment Inmem58 made in the What's for Dinner thread.

Toss out all non-stick cookware made of teflon and aluminum pans. I can always tell when something's cooked in teflon. Yuck!

No, you can't. Unless they've screwed up the pan. The best egg pans in the world are the cheap Teflon pans. Use it until it's outlived its usefulness, then buy another.

Make a health argument about Teflon all you want, but you can't taste when something is cooked in Teflon.

Aluminum, possibly, because it is a reactive surface. But Teflon? Just... no.

Highly agree p. I never once ate something and thought "this was cooked in a Teflon pan". She should put down the wine for the rest of the day.

use the microwave on a low power setting for most reheating needs. Thirty-fifty percent will produce far less toughened foods and fewer hot spots.

You didn't say you didn't believe in aprons. So when I reference you "belief" in something, clearly I was talking about the only part in your post about which you referenced a belief.

I went back and read your post 78 and honestly it could be taken more than one way. "Believe in it" can be used to mean the same. Anyhow, my quote used the word "them" which wasn't about aluminum but I can see you imply it as it previously mentioned. But it quoted the apron part. So it wasn't clear. I get what you meant now.
