Which QB Do You Like

Ok gentlemen, time to let us know what QB you'd like to see the Chiefs draft this year. Maybe list the top 3-5 guys in order of preference.....along with a bit of commentary about each guy. I'll start this with....

(1) P Mahomes - Yeah his footwork stinks and yeah he played in a "gimmick" offense, but he is the absolute antithesis of Alex Smith. Mahomes is a gunslinger whereas Alex has the mentality of an accountant. So, in that singular regard, Mahomes is most appealing. Add in the fact that he has a cannon for an arm and you have the Chiefs starting QB in 2018.

2) D Webb - First of all, I like this kid's pedigree - son of a high school coach so he's been immersed in football/jargon for a long time. Plus he has prototypical size for an NFL QB, an excellent arm capable of all NFL throws, good pocket presence and a high football IQ. Give this kid a year or two to learn behind Alex, and he could end up being a damn good NFL QB. A lot to like about this guy.

3) M Trubisky - A bit concerned that he was only a starter for one year, but he appears to have a very solid NFL skillset. His floor might be higher than any other QB available this year. A safe selection wtih considerable upside.

4) D Watson - Everytime I see/hear mention of Watson as an NFL QB I think of Robert Griffin III. Pretty much similar skillsets, size, arm and football savvy. I thought RGIII would be a dynamite NFL QB, but sadly, he leaned on his running ability too much. I fear the same could happen with Watson. If available, I'd definitely take a flyer on him, but not without some concern.

5) D Kizer - Another strong armed QB with prototypical NFL size. His stats for 2016 were rather "meh", but there were definitely times when he looked damn good. Additionally, his supporting cast for 2016 was also rather "meh". That said, Kizer clearly did not raise the level of play in his surrounding players. Very, high ceiling, but could also be a total bust.

Who do you like???

Curious... have you EVER seen a team draft a QB between picks 5-32 and said, "That's a good pick"

Heck, I'll even throw 2015 out there. When the Bucs took Winston and the Titans took Mariota, did you say anything other than, "Shit QBs picked at the top of a shit draft for QBs."

I thought both Mariota and Winston (despite what I felt about him for his off-field incidents, slotted him behind Mariota because of those reasons and the fact that I'm just partial to the Pac-12 being an alumnus of Cal) were legitimate potential Franchise guys. I felt the same about Derek Carr when he came out and thought that he was clearly the best guy in that draft class due to a number of reasons (didn't like Bortles or Bridgewater nearly as much in that draft and thought Carr should have been 1st off the board). Thought the 2013 NFL draft class was shit (This one isn't too much better).

2016 I only had Wentz and Goff as guys worth a 1st. I thought Goff would suck year 1 on the Rams due to their shit coaching, terrible line, and lack of good WRs, and I was right. Thought Wentz would do better than Goff because of his situation. The only real surprise for me was Prescott and the number of wins he managed to get with the Cowboys, but I still don't think he would have had anywhere near the same success if he didn't happen to play for the team with the best OL, running game, and just overall offensive support in the league. He pretty much hit the jackpot.

Yup, the problem with guys who have elite toolsets (whether that be a rocket arm or super fast legs) is that they tend to become over reliant on those natural gifts and develop bad habits that become second nature to them, habits that are virtually impossible to break.

Seth Keysor is showing footage on his twitter account. This is why I like Watson:

He's reading blitzes, showing accuracy, going through progressions and showing off his elite running ability.

IMO Watson's comparison is Marcus Marriotta. God I want this guy on our team so bad.

He doesn't have the arm Mariota has, even if the wind was blowing 30 mph to his back.

I've seen Kaaya stand in there and take big shots to get the pass off. I think his problems arm strength and lacking the ability to anticipate passing windows.

This is a really good article if you like analytics. www(dot)fanragsports(dot)com/nfl/introducing-semtex-new-way-look-college-production/

Tl;dr - Kaaya and Evans may be underrated. Or they may be the next Bryce Petty. But they have a higher chance of winning a SB. Make sense? Nope? Ok.

Had to edit URL due to account privilege limitations.

I think Kaaya and Evans are rated about right.

Kaaya is a poor mans Kirk Cousins.

Good back up potential ceiling being serviceable starter. I think he's maybe the best natural thrower, but his Bledsoe like mobility mixed with tendency to stare the rush is a bad combo. 4th round range is about right.

Evans never should of came out. Late to UDFA is proper range.

Would probably take Kaaya in the 4th over reaching for a Peterman or Webb in the 2nd.

In Watsons defense, Tyrod Taylor was clocked at just 50 and he's done fine.

Granted Tyrod is like the only one out of several QBs under 55 mph to do shit.
