Alex Smith Was Clutch

Like him or not, he turned the game around when Washington was kicking our ass early and he was key to the game-winning drive late.

We don't have the cap room to extend Smith. Even if we gain some short term wiggle room next year with an extension we won't have any room to sign other players. Plus, how are we going to extend guys like Peters?

I guess I see it as more cheering for yourself than the team. It is the EXACT thing they bitch about, but the opposite side of the spectrum. Provide interesting info to discuss, not rehash how you were justified for blah, blah, blah.

Perfect moment to illustrate my point. Great stuff in bold, but couldn't resist the rest of the post.

He’s playing like a top 5 QB. It’s truly remarkable.

Oh and btw this win just put Smith as the QB with most wins since the beginning of 2015 with 26. Brady has 25

For any reasonable Smith critic, it's because we saw moments like today where Alex looks like a totally different QB. We know he's capable of this type of performance every single week. But it seems like our defense has to give up 10 quick points or we have to wait for the 4th quarter for this version of Alex Smith to kick into gear. We know he's capable of doing it every single week. Ever the optimist, I'm going to keep hoping that this is the week Alex realizes he has the ability to carry the team week after week.
