Bills fans acknowledge hopelessness after watching SB

Porn posted in the predawn hours after the Chiefs victory in SBLVII. They also have a 100 post Zayne Anderson thread and dreams of poaching Wylie and Neon Deon Bush

It's truly mindnumbing how many people over at their board still think Allen is a better QB than Mahomes and the only reason he hasn't had the same success is due to coaching and poor roster players around him.
Nevermind the fact that the Bills defense has, statistically speaking, been superior to that of the Chiefs all these years.

Allen is not and will never be equal to or better than Mahomes because he lacks fundamental traits that Mahomes has:

1) Elite IQ
2) Elite arm talent (throwing with touch, off platform, from every possible angle)
3) Killer instinct (while Allen has shown at times that he can go cold blooded on teams, he hasn't managed to close the deal when it really counts... in the Playoffs)

Allen is very robotic in his approach. Lacks the intelligence to dissect formations pre-snap.

There is the Mahomes tier and further down the barrel there are the lesser tiers.

It's early enough in Allen's career that they can still hold on to hope. He's a very talented guy. AFC is loaded with very talented QB's. We will see how it shakes out for these teams over the next 10 years.

It’s sad. They all have finally figured out that Mahomes broke the organization in the 13 second game. That was supposed to be their year. Josh Allen was perfect that entire postseason.

And then Mahomes went out and out-perfected his perfection. That was it for them. We own their souls.

Allen's great. Not a terrible thing to have the second coming of Favre. Hell many commentators said that's what Reid was hoping for when he drafted Mahomes and even CHIEFS fans were saying this was Mahomes ceiling after his start last year.

This image was posted on the Bills subreddit as a GOOD thing, with their fans arguing it meant Allen didn't regress this year. This seemed to miss the subtext that Allen might always be a turnover machine. Favre proved you could still get a title and always be in the mix despite that, but you need tight coaching to get over the top. I'm not convinced the Bills currently have that after Daboll left last year.

Buffalo had a lot of bad luck with injuries in 2022. That's where they can have optimism for the future. Stay healthier and be a stronger team in the future. It's all a crapshoot with the injury stuff every year.

I don't think anybody really believes that. They're merely backed into a corner and are trying to protect their quarterback while they hope for a miracle year from him.

They're currently 18 million over the cap, so they have some decisions to make. Brent Varch has us spoiled with his handling of the cap and roster building. It remains to be seen if the bills can keep things together to stay competitive with the Chiefs

The mistake in today's NFL is to try and "cover every inch." Think about it. Every top-5 defense the Chiefs have faced, Andy and Pat and Travis have destroyed. In some cases repeatedly.

And our defense keeps making just enough plays to win games. A big part of that is Spags being absolutely honest with himself about what his unit and players can and can't do. Instead of doing what every DC tries to do against KC, which is that whole "defend every inch of grass" crap. Spags takes the approach of "what can my guys do pretty well against these guys, and then how can I make it harder for them to do at least one other thing they want to do?" That's why he can keep competing with offenses that are just better than his guys. He doesn't just square up with them, he attacks the angles.

Because our defense isn't populated with enough elite talent to be a top-5 defense. We have Chris Jones and essentially his supporting cast. Oh, we have some really good to possibly great players sprinkled in there, like Bolton and Sneed, McDuffie is up and coming, etc., but we just have never had enough great players to reach that level. May never have that in the Mahomes era.

Top-10 though, I think is very doable. Next season they'll probably crack the top-10 early and stay there. A lot depends on how the DL is constructed, but with the right moves it looks pretty doable.

I think they will figure out the cap stuff. As long as Allen is healthy, they have a fighting chance against other teams.

They also have 20 free agents. They'll figure it out, but they're going to have to be very creative.

Kind of hard to do unless you're hitting on your draft picks. They lost because they've invested a shit ton of resources on the DL and it's garbage without Miller.

They've also spent not 1, not 2, but 3 day 2 picks on a RB and still haven't really hit on one. They're still getting mocked Bijan Robinson.

They're going to lose some guys this year, and they haven't drafted well enough to just assume that they'll "figure it out". Not to mention the toll coming up short over and over again can take on you mentally as a team.

Yeh, from everything I've read over there while lurking, they've got some serious cap issues, and they haven't drafted well enough in terms of depth players. At any position.

I agree 1,000% they need to draft some very good players.

My thought is their defense might be better off starting over with cheaper players. Even before they had Von Miller on the team, they had a "top 3" defense that got torched in two straight playoff games by the Chiefs offense. Get rid of the expensive veterans on the defensive side of the ball and figure out a different approach.
