Give me 5 songs that will convince me I should listen to your favorite genre of music

It can be a specific subset of music like 90s West Coast gangster rap or something more broad like rock ‘n roll. Just give me the 5 songs you’d think would best convince a neutral party to start listening to your favorite genre.

Been listening to a lot of American Blues lately. This year marked the 30 year anniversary of my Dad passing away. We didn't see eye to eye on a lot of things but shared several including music. He love Albert and BB King and Dick Dale until he saw Stevie Ray Vaughn. I also introduced him to Fabulous Thunderbirds and George Thorogood among many others.

God I could go into so many directions with indie music. But I feel like this is the most listenable to any audience. Good ole fashion indie jams and folk. All songs I've heard live that are better than the recorded:

My morning jacket - one last holiday
Nathaniel ratliff and the night sweats - I need never get old
War on drugs - red eyes
Wilco - impossible Germany
Black keys - tighten up

Actually, I was wrong when I said I didn't have a favorite genre.

My favorite genre anymore, is the cover. But since I already posted 5 songs. I will only post 3 random cover songs I recently listened to:

Have you heard EarthKry? They’re a new band, but have that old school rock steady vibe to them. Super cool.

I like it! Definitely a slower, old school beat.

I do like Protoje, Chronixx, Koffee, Alborosie. They are all new school rap reggae.

Do you like The Black Pumas and also Alabama Shakes?

I'm a huge Black Keys fan.

I'll take my shot at getting a guy into Red Dirt.

Turnpike Troubadours - The Rut

Reckless Kelly 7 Nights in Eire

Shane Smith and the Saints - All I see is you.

Whiskey Meyers - Broken Window Serenade

Turnpike Troubadours - Before the Devil Knows you're dead.

Little something for whatever mood you're in.

Lotsa good newer artists on the scene. Kabaka Pyramid, Jesse Royal, Khalia, Lila Ike, etc. they’re definitely mashing up sounds to make their new style.

You ever listen to Groundation, or 10 ft Ganja Plant?

Nice thread. I love finding “new” music and I’m always happy to explore, but sometimes it’s difficult to know where to look.

Not a genre guy, so I’m just gonna make my case for Built to Spill. Doug Martsch has changed my life over and over again. I’ve seen him and BTS play live at least 20 times and they never disappoint. Smoke a spliff and enjoy…

Built to Spill - Goin’ Against Your Mind
Built to Spill - Randy Described Eternity
Built to Spill - Virginia Reel Around the Fountain
Built to Spill - You Were Right
Built to Spill - Spiderwebs
Doug Martsch - Woke Up This Morning (With My Mind on Jesus)
