*.* 2013 General Fitness Thread *.*
Welcome to 2013! Now get your ass in top physical condition!
**From the 2012 Thread** If you want to get back into lifting, or need a new lifting routine, START HERE: http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wi...inner_Programs If you have questions about the SS programs, look here: http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ Keep in mind that you're a novice lifter for a longer period of time than you think you are. Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started. Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Find it HERE: http://madcow.hostzi.com/5x5_Program/Linear_5x5.htm If you're a very advanced lifter (many, many years of CONSISTENT weight training), then there are lot of programs out there, and which one you pick is simply a matter of preference. If you're really that advanced, you should know what works for you and what doesn't by this point. |

Its strange how much differently diets effect different people. Im 6'2" was 275, now 257. I went to a drastic 1000-1200 cal a day diet and really havent felt any different. I do feel hungry alot more, but that is to be expected lol

I am 6'-4" and 256 and that is pretty much my diet right now as well, but I am down to around 15g of carbs as well. After I head my chicken breast and broccoli lunch, I was back to feeling normal again, but apparently right now when I get hunger my body wants to shut down without the carbs.

Was wondering if anybody here uses Crystal light when they're feeling a bit bored of their plain water. I probably drink about 3 gallons of water a day and I use 2 packets throughout the day. Anybody else use anything different/what is your water situation if you use anything at all?

"regular" gatorade has a lot of sugar (sucrose)
Most fat produced by the body is due to conversion of excess glucose into fatty acid. In this way, the body does turn sugar into fat as part of the metabolic process when excess sugar is present. However, several thresholds much breach before this conversion takes place. Cells must first absorb glucose to capacity for immediate use, then muscles must absorb glycogen to capacity for later use. Only then will the body resort to converting glucose into fatty acid for storage in adipose tissue, if blood glucose levels remain too high. On the other hand, "sugar" as it relates to sucrose, or table sugar, can initiate this process much more readily. Sucrose and other simple sugars can cause rises in blood glucose levels that require the full gamut of conversions to lower them quickly enough to prevent damage. |

Made it to 9.2 and I think that's about as high as I can get by tomorrow at noon.
I feel so much better than before it's unreal. I still have a ways to go, but I think if I keep on a healthy diet and run/workout 3x a week I'll be golden. Thanks for the help guys.
