HBO greenlights A Game of Thrones pilot! (spoilers)
EDIT: Changed the original header to mark this as the thread where spoilers are allowed (but not necessarily recommended...). Created a new, spoiler-free thread for Ice and Fire virgins...
This is awesome... Huge, Huge News Nov. 11th, 2008 at 10:29 PM HBO has given the production order. They will be filming the pilot episode of A GAME OF THRONES. It's just the pilot so far. They'll need to see that before they decide whether to proceed with a full season's episodes. So let's all hope the pilot will kick serious ass. It should. David Benioff and Dan Weiss did a terrific job with the script. And yes, all of you can relax, it's very faithful. Dan and David will be the executive producers for the pilot and (we hope) the eventual series. More details when I have 'em. The news is very fresh. HBO just issued their own press release, which should be up on their website soon, if it's not there already. Winter is coming to HBO. Hot damn. Last edited by keg in kc; 04-25-2011 at 03:58 PM.. |

Not sure how I feel about this. Sorry if Repost. Apparently they're releasing a PC game as sort of a prequel before the books.

Oh my. Seeing people's reactions to next week is going to be interesting, if I don't miss my guess.
Loved the stuff with Sam and Jon. And Ghost! And Bran's crow. Tyrion's oh shit moment at the end. One thing I really like is how they're showing Jamie as conflicted. He's more the Jamie of the latter books and not the Jamie of the early books. And I think the difference there is that you don't actually see him in the early books; he's always talked about but never really on stage. So you're getting his reputation and not who you discover that he is later. Which means the show's getting it right, I think. Littlefinger and Sansa. Talk about foreshadowing. And the bit about poison being woman's work. And Robert's son. So much good stuff in that episode. Hodor. |

Yawn.
This novel translates horribly to television. They sure wasted a shit ton of money on awesome costumes and sets just to have people stand around and blab and barely advance the plot. THAT GUY SURE GURGLED BLOOD THOUGH! |

It's just poorly executed television.

That was the best episode so far.
It had completely slipped my mind that Catelyn thought Tyrion plotted to kill Bran by the end of the episode and when she got all those guys to arrest him I was like, "OH SHIT!" I think other than Jon, Littlefinger is my favorite character in the show. |

Also I watched the previews for next weeks episode and it looks like there is finally going to be some action so GoChiefs should enjoy that episode.

Your the ONLY one i have seen so far that said it translates bad. I just got the books and am about 130 pages into the book, and so far it seems to be pretty spot on except for the ages of the kids, which have to be upped for obvious reasons.
