LA will be dethroned. The LAC Lake Show will be dead. So it's time to create a thread to follow the new dynasty.

Going on tour starting this October.

The public never knew because TMZ wasn't chasing MJ around trying to earn a few bucks. That changes the entire calculus and damn sure changes your ability to "handle your business". Was Chuck handling his business when he got nabbed getting a blowjob outside of a bar?

And as for this Shaq thing - y'all act like he held a press conference or something. He was a 25 year old kid getting arrested that asked a cop how he could get rid of it. Was it becoming? No, but it wasn't like he abandoned his wife or ****ed over jammed a knife in the back of an entire city on national television. He was a terrified kid trying to save his own skin.

So Kobe gets a pass on everything because he was a 25 year old kid, but LeBron who is 25 doesn't?

Not at all.

But when folks continue to assert he "Threw Shaq under the bus" when he was asking a cop how he can make this go away as he was being arrested, it's certainly a mitigating factor. It always amazes me how bent out of shape people get about that. You think athletes haven't been dropping names for decades? He was playing every card he had.

I'd say that's a damn sight different than a guy spending 2 years lying to a city while making a calculated move to switch teams and avoid the pressure of having to win on his own.

At one of the media sessions, O'Neal acknowledged that he had watched Bryant's 81-point game and offered only praise for Bryant's performance,Then, during the All-Star Game itself, the two were seen laughing and joking together.

On May 14, 2007, O'Neal stated on TNT that Bryant should be awarded the MVP of the year. (BTW, he should have many MVP awards at this point)

In 2008, O'Neal reiterated his belief that Bryant deserved the MVP award.

On January 29, 2009, in an interview with Stephen A. Smith, O'Neal claimed that the feud between him and Bryant & Jackson was simply a marketing ploy. On Bryant, O'Neal claimed that he "always did love Kobe. It was all marketing". O'Neal also claimed that Jackson is "the greatest coach ever. And he's done a lot for me. Phil's my guy. It's all marketing, baby." O'Neal also added, "We helped you hype it up. I know what I'm doing, brother. I'm the smartest player in the world.

At the 2009 NBA All-Star Game, O'Neal, Bryant, and Jackson were all reunited on the West squad. O'Neal and Bryant were both named co-MVPs for the game and were shown laughing and hugging during the game.

Bryant and the Lakers would go to face the Orlando Magic in the 2009 NBA Finals. Shaq showed support for Kobe, on his Twitter page saying: “thats right i am saying it today and today only, i want kobe bryant to get number 4, spread da word.”

Shaq doesn't seem to have an issue with Kobe at all, I'm not sure why you do. You act like he was bangin your wife or something.

I didn't know D-Wade cheated on his wife. Dang I remember during the year the Heat won the title Wade was talking on ESPN about how he loves his wife so much and doesn't let the temptation of "fame" get to him. Guess they're all the same.

I had no idea this happened but just reading the LA Times story on this that is not exactly how it went down. He was being questioned for a long time and then made a comment that he should have done what Shaq did. Pretty much implicating Shaq as a criminal and paying off women.

I can't believe anyone would compare that equally to what Lebron did by leaving as a FA to Miami which is his right to do. Also I don't remember Lebron ever stating that he would stay in Cleveland he always gave a non answer.

Wow. I know alot of people hate Lebron but people need some perspective.

In alot of neighborhoods what Kobe did would be a death sentence.

http://articles.latimes.com/2004/sep...ts/sp-bryant29

Hours after his sexual encounter with a hotel employee in Colorado, Kobe Bryant told investigators that Shaquille O'Neal, his Laker teammate at the time, had paid up to $1 million to women to keep them quiet about "situations like this," according to a police report.

An Eagle County, Colo., detective wrote in a report that Bryant made the comment near the end of a lengthy interrogation on July 2, 2003, about allegations that Bryant had raped the woman, then 19, in his resort hotel room.

O'Neal was informed of the comment last September, about two weeks before Laker training camp opened in Hawaii, when prosecution investigators made an unsuccessful attempt to question him. His agent, Perry Rogers, said Tuesday that the allegation in Bryant's statement was untrue and "undeserving of a response."

Much of Bryant's 75-minute interview was tape-recorded, but Det. Doug Winters wrote that the reference to O'Neal came after his partner, Det. Dan Loya, had turned off the recorder.

The incident report, a portion of which was reviewed by the Los Angeles Times, is part of the sealed file in the criminal case that was brought against Bryant last year and dropped this month. A Colorado judge has a motion before him to unseal documents from the case.

"Bryant made a comment to us about what another teammate does in situations like these," Winters wrote. "Bryant stated he should have done what Shaq (Shaquille O'Neal) does. Bryant stated that Shaq would pay his women not to say anything. He stated Shaq has paid up to a million dollars already for situations like this. He stated he, Bryant, treats a woman with respect, therefore they shouldn't say anything."

In a closed court proceeding before the felony charge was dropped, Bryant's attorneys fought successfully to have the reference to O'Neal declared inadmissible at trial, according to a prosecution source.

It is unclear precisely what Bryant meant by the remarks attributed to him. There have been no published reports of O'Neal ever being accused of any sex crime.

I truly believe that Lebron received bad PR advice, because it seemed like he wanted this to be like an address to Cleveland for why he chose the team he wanted to play for. The PR team were the ones that ****ed up.

Lebron definitely got bad advice but it still was his decision to make and he has looked like a huge douchebag through all of this.

But it is in no way equal to Kobe ratting out a teammate to the cops.
