So he clearly knows all about civil litigation and the mechanics of settling a parallel suit. So much so that he can call me out, afterall, what do I know?

As an unrelated point, this occured to me this morning - her refusal to cooperate in a criminal matter was pretty much irrelevant at that point. She had provided hours worth of sworn testimony already. If she refuses to cooperate, her testimony would likely be admissible hearsay as it would be the sworn testimony of an unavailable witness. Remember - this is "State v. Bryant" so ultimately, her wishes are immaterial. Her prior testimony would have still gotten in whether she wanted it to or not.
The problem wasn't that she 'wouldn't cooperate', the problem was that everytime she opened her mouth, something different came out. If her testimony had been uniform or corroborated, the DA would've absolutely continued forward with that case because they simply didn't need her anymore. They had her testimony. So when the Judge issued an opinion slamming the DA for continuing forward with the case, the Prosecutors pulled the plug and got the hell out. They knew that had a lousy case and they needed to dump the blame ASAP. Afterall, prosecutors are still elected officials. Her cooperation was no longer relevant at that point in the investigation. You run into some Confrontation Clause/6th Amendment issues, but she could have been brought in under subpoena by Kobe's lawyers for any cross-examination (thus removing any option she may have had in the matter). But again - I'm sure SAUTO knew this already. Afterall, he's a mechanic.

Well, at least he'll finally find a team that fits his skills at this point in his career.
Shaq kept going to teams that seemed built specifically to make him look bad. WTF was he going to do in Cleveland other than occupy the space that LeBron needed? PHX? Lord was that a joke. In Boston he can actually play a pretty significant role cleaning up after Rondo (offensive rebounding is critical for those guys since their PG can't really shoot). They don't run on offense and their defense doesn't require mobile big men. It's a good situation for him. We'll see if he has anything left.

The Celtics maybe a little old but they may have one of the best front courts in the NBA with Shaq, Jermaine O'Neal, Big Baby, Perkins, and KG. That is a pretty formidable group. |

Yeah, me neither. I dislike the Celtics fans more than the team (no offense ). But I've had enough of Boston citizens in general, so it's probably a function of Celtics fans being Massholes more than anything. The Celtics, as a group (asshole drama queen Beakers excluded) are a pretty likeable bunch of guys. Davis looks like a mongoloid reerun baby, but I liked him at LSU. Garnett's act is tired, but I like the grizzled vets. Allen's been one of my favorites since Uconn. Rondo's turned himself into a great player, Perk is a gamer. Shaq just gets a little bitter from time to time, but I still think he's a genuine human being and a decent dude. Rivers is a class act and a great coach that got cornholed at Orlando and I'm glad to see him do well. Paul Pierce can hook himself up to an antifreeze I.V. and die screaming in a flaming AIDS tree. But the rest of those guys are cool.

He needs to be shooting jumpers and FT's because there was no doubt by Game 7 they were laying off of him and daring him to shoot. No offense taken I really don't have a team I root for players more than anything. I am definitely excited about this upcoming NBA season the East is going to be fun to watch. |

Shannon Brown signs 2 year deal with the Lakers
The Lakers and free agent guard Shannon Brown have agreed on a two-year contract worth $4.6 million, Brown's agent, Mark Bartelstein, said Thursday morning. "Shannon could have made more money somewhere else, but I think he really wanted to play this out with the Lakers," Bartelstein said. "They've won it [all] two years in a row and the chance to win three straight [championships] doesn't come around every day." Brown is likely the last piece of the Lakers' offseason puzzle. Though the negotiations took longer than expected, he and the team had expressed a desire to work a deal. Brown strongly considered the New York Knicks and New Orleans Hornets. The Lakers also considered free agent guards such as Raja Bell. Brown had opted out of the second year of his previous deal with the Lakers, which would've paid him $2.15 million next season. He will again have a player option in the second year of this contract. "It's time to go get number 3," Brown said via text message when asked about the new deal. Brown averaged career highs in points (8.1), rebounds (2.2) and assists (1.3) last season. His acrobatic dunks and athleticism have made him one of the team's most popular players. Fans staged a grassroots campaign on the Internet to help him earn a spot in the dunk contest at the All Star Game. His production and minutes fell off a bit in the playoffs however, as he averaged 4.9 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.9 assists. Now that Brown has signed, The Lakers have 12 players under contract. They have begun negotiations with second-round draft picks Devin Ebanks and Derrick Caracter, which would bring their roster to 14, one more than the Lakers carried last year.

Sasha may want to pack his bags.
If they can find someone to take him off their hands, he's gone. I hear they offered him to Min. with a first round pick for Delonte West and Min. turned them down...only to cut West outright. In other words, Sasha is so bad that the Lakers couldn't give someone their first rounder to take him off their hands. So much for that "Machine" nickname - that smelly Euro's clearly on the fritz. I could also see them letting Ebanks go now that they've picked up Barnes, but Caracter's definitely going to get signed. He's a perfect rotation forward for them. Put him in the weight room and teach him to rebound. Now if we could convince Brown to go the Ariza route and spend the entire offseason shooting 3's, that would be great. The team still doesn't have a true perimeter threat (Barnes is a streak shooter and while I like the Blake signing a lot, I don't see him as a guy that defenses will respect enough to stay up on to open the lanes).

If Sasha can get his stroke back he is worth having around as his D isn't bad. Without the stroke though the guy isn't even an NBA player.
