Battlefield 3
Anyone looking forward to this? I really like BC2, but haven't been playing it long.

The third game in the series, which will be shown to press during the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco next month, is set for release this coming fall, Electronic Arts confirmed. The publisher revealed the first teaser trailer for the game on its official website tonight. The trailer, which contains no actual gameplay, displays quick cuts of helicopters, ground troops, tanks and fighter jets. I played quite a bit on Saturday; then ate dinner, watched a few shows with the wife, then she was tired/went to bed. So I hit BF3 again for a few hours.
This game is so much fun/very addicting. I ended up playing for probably 2 hours with the same squad, which all the players were very team oriented, and we were able to win quite a few matches. You defintely get an idea of what everyone is doing, and what kind of strategy they're using. overall, just very fun. For the first time, I switched up my specialty after I got repeated killed by tanks etc, so I played a few times with an RPG (or whatever it is) and got much needed revenge. Slowly, I'm building up my rank; I unlocked a scope, but haven't been able to attach it yet; not sure what I'm doing wrong (probably), or if the attachment only works on certain guns/maps. I've primarily played as support using the RPK/M416. I'm off for 5 straight days coming up, and I plan on playing a lot (first time I've had more than 3 days off in a row in 3 years). |

As far as that scope goes, everything you unlock using a gun is specific to that same gun (with a few exceptions, like when you unlock stuff for the M16A1 it works for M16A3, I think). In other words, every time you select a fresh gun on any class, you start out naked again. The other things you unlock for the class, stay there (like C4 and Mortars, etc). Also, M416 is my favorite gun so far, but that's an Assault gun. The first American MG is called M27 IAR (it looks like an M416 with an extended mag and a longer barrel, though, lol). If you want more control over what you start with, I would just put a universal gun for every class, that way you level it up faster (you don't get stuck with 2 different guns depending on what side it puts you on).

Yeap. I personally hate the UMP and will never use it again so I was more talking about class specific universal guns (like M249 for the Support). But yeah, if my choices are a shitty sniper rifle or the UMP, I'm still going to go with the UMP. I feel so useless when I snipe... Killing people is not enough to win in this game.

I'll check that out tonight; I'm sure I'm doing something wrong on my loadout/class screen etc.
As a former COD only player, this is 100 times better for those who like objective based fighting. I'm hooked. I think I want to try to level up/unlock stuff in Support while I continue to get the hang of stuff; then I'll probably switch to assault/engineer to levelup/lock. Recon will probalby be my last..we'll see. the other night, i hopped in a helo with a pretty good pilot, and I was on the machine gun; man, we slaughtered people for a good 10 minutes. lol. He just hovered in various spots. But, I quickly found out that I can' fly a chopper for crap. I jumped in one thinking there was a pilot in there, but there wasn't. Someone else hopped in for the gunner. I was able to hover and move around a while, but it got out of control in a heartbeat lol. So, yeah....not doing that again for a while. |

I usually only play Skyrim when nobody is on playing BF3. Yesterday was the first time that I decided to keep playing Skyrim. Both games are fantastic, Skyrim is definitely less stressful, though.

I've also got Batman: AC and MW3 sitting by. I've decided I'm not buying anything else until Mass Effect 3 in March.

played a bit last night; I was able to add the scope to the MG; took some getting used to. First few matches sucked; no squad based stuff AT ALL. Like, everyone was running around getting their K/D ratio up. I don't even think those teams were attempting to grab the objectives on Conquest. Frustrating. but luckily got into a squad that knew what the point of Conquest was.

I love the bolt action sniper rifles once you get the perk where you don't have to zoom out to reload.
