Sorry if it's a repost, but I'm seeing a lot of talk about this... thought we might centralize the discussion.

I've had my first encounter with Deathclaws. Then I found the Old Olney and the Olney Sewers. ****. At least being a level 20 with the Lincoln repeater + the AP refill perk (Grim Reaper I think) I am able to kill all of them. They do some major damage though.

Deathclaws are about the one thing that scare me in this game. I need to venture into Old Olney. I hear there's a gatling laser down there. I need to get mine repaired up to 100 percent.

I was there for about 20 minutes, didn't find it.

One weird thing that happened to me is that I was walking the southwest portion of the map and I saw a Deathclaw about 40 yards ahead of me, then all the sudden it flew into the air and got smaller and smaller until it was a little dot then I couldn't see it anymore. I'm guessing thats a glitch.

I've just picked this game back up after a few months of beating it. I'm still holding off for a DLC bundle to come out for the updates.
So I picked back up on an old save, around level 21, and decided to do some exploring in empty areas on my map. This was going great until I came upon a cave in the Northwest that was called Deathclaw Sanctuary...
I've got 3 bottlecap mines left.

I haven't used a proximity mine on one yet.. but the bottlecap mines seem to work great. I don't remember killing one in the daytime now that I think about it.

The gatling laser makes short work of them. I'm basically a walking tank. The only issue is when I get caught wearing my regular gear and sporting my blackhawk .44. I like to wear less when I'm out walking around in low-danger areas, because you move faster, but then a deathclaw comes out of nowhere!

For Old Olney, I'm going in locked and loaded, though. AND HELL'S COMIN' WITH ME!

If you have a dart gun killing death claws is easy, 2 shots and they move in slow motion.

I shot a super mutant and he went straight up about 100 feet. He was shooting at me while hoovering above. There was no where to hide. He eventually came down.

I saved the Deathclaw areas for my super mutant buddy. I just hide behind him and he takes care of business.

I'm pissed off because all of the sudden Charon wasn't with me anymore and I can't find him. I fired Jericho (who I payed 1000 caps to get his employment) and now Charon is missing. I need to get a new partner.

Nah, that's how I killed most of them in my game. A couple of bottlecap mines and they're in bad shape.

You need the dart gun schematic. There's a few ways to get them, but I can't really remember.

Yes, you can get a Super Mutant partner later in the game and he's a bad ass. Not sure how far into it you are, but you'll know when you get there. Don't want to spoil it for you.

I have all the items except the pressure cooker, which I cannot find.

Yeah, if only because railway spikes are really easy to come by. Pretty sweet to take off an enemy's head and stick it to a wall with a spike.
