Are you joking? the OVERWHELMING majority of lottery picks come from the NCAA D1 ranks, and not the ENTIRETY OF THE REST OF THE WORLD.

There's a reason for that. In fact, most of the top foreign prospects are considered unknown quantities until they show out against top US competition. It's why getting to the Nike Hoop Summit is so key for a lot of these guys.

And even then, it's just one game. There's a reason Dante Exum got out of Australia as soon as possible and started working out with/against US players. Scouts want to see what you can do vs. top competition, and that ain't in the Ukrainian leagues.

He could get money, sure, but not nearly as much as he would as a top five pick, and that's what he could be if he comes to college and is able to compete and dominate.

Add to it that he's a 16 year old kid whose future lies in another country, and it isn't foolish to want to acclimate in a safe, sponsored, and supportive environment.
