Then again, what was the reason for last years "not normal" offseason?

It's unsettling because you don't see the upper echelon teams go from one philosophy to the next.

There really isn't a rebuilding anymore. It is all about retooling. When you have some of the question marks we do with the cap situation we do there is a high probability that we will be retooling again next year that would be the starting of year 3.

You might consider moving on and stop throwing good money after bad if he is wanting to be paid more than he is worth or to a level he cannot perform up to. The top tier contract that Condon is asking would give any GM a moment of pause when the QB is not top tier.

That's the thing, nothing's changed since last year when we were willing to give up top tier QB picks for the guy.

If they don't want to pay him, great. But you can't have it both ways. Either he's worth it, you pay him and th pucks are worth it, you don't pay him and let him walk and the picks were a disaster.

It can't be great trade, not worth contract.

Who was gonna play QB last year? It's clear Reid didn't like any QB in the draft, even to develop. Reid likes Smith, he said he'd thought about trading for him when he was in Philly. Reid wanted Smith and did what it took to get him. You need a QB. It might say win now, but it also is just a necessity. Dorsey drafted for the future last year, for Albert moving on, for Charles backup/replacement, and signed a ton of projects.

The only win now move was trading for Smith, but that was a coach who knew who he wanted and getting him. I still bet they didn't see the success they had coming.

They signed Sean Smith, Dunta Robinson, Quinton Demps, Mike Devito, Geoff Shwartz and Anthony Fasano.

Trading for Alex Smith was only one several acquisitions.

So, don't try to sell that shit.

All of these players including Alex Smith were signed with the intent for them to start with the exception of Daniel.
I would say that signing 6 starters,and paying them like starters, in one off season would constitute a win now demeanor from the team.
