I'm really enjoying his ****ing AWESOME defense as well. It's unreal how well he is playing out there in Left... and it's amazing how well he is batting. It's fun to watch.

I have to admit... I didn't think this would happen. I expected the same old, same old from Gordon this year.

But he really has changed his approach and his swing. His defense has looked great. Really enjoying watching him play. Just hope he keeps this up over the whole season. I can see .290/.375/22/100/15 as a final slash line. Would likely put him in the .850-.950 SLG range, depending on how many doubles he hits.

Combine that with .320/.400/20/100 with Butler, and the Royals have a legitimate 3-4 combo for the first time since I can remember...

I only saw Gordon rarely in the past, when the Royals played the Angels, and the rare ESPN games, but his swing right now is as smooth and level as one could hope.

He seemed to have a natural uppercut in his swing in year's past.

He's much closer to the plate (I think someone mentioned that already) and he's swinging much easier. He's not trying to hit 475 shots to right center with every swing. Also, his hand position is better, which keeps him from his tendency to roll over on pitches.

And he's got enough natural power that even with this swing, he's good for 20-25 home runs, even playing 81 games in cavernous Kauffman Stadium.
