It will be something like a 1st, 3rd, 5th and a 3rd next year if this even happens at all.

But sign me up for Jones if it does.
If a trade down isn't a viable option, I'd probably grab Jones for that--although that is a HUGE price...

Even if they do pass on Newton and take Darieus, the rest of the first round could go:

Denver - Fairley (Von Miller is no fit for a 4-3)
Buffalo - Von Miller
Cinci - Cam
Arizona - Petersen
Cleveland - Green
SF - Quinn
Tenn - Gabbert
Dallas - Tyron Smith
Redskins - ??

Kansas City Chiefs: Nate Solder, OT, Colorado
In 2009, Scott Pioli drafted for positional value when he selected Tyson Jackson. Last year, he went the "best player available" route with Eric Berry. Both draft strategies would come into play here with Nate Solder.

Kansas City has a gaping hole at offensive tackle. I'm not a big fan of Branden Albert, but the huge void is at right tackle, where Barry Richardson struggled last year.

Solder, one of the top talents on the board, would be an instant upgrade on the right side, and could eventually transition to left tackle if Albert doesn't improve. Greg is hearing from a source that the Chiefs really like Solder.

Other 2011 NFL Draft Possibilities:

1. Phil Taylor, NT - Pioli needs his Vince Wilfork. Unfortunately, Phil Taylor was diagnosed with an inoperable foot condition, which could cause him to drop out of the first round.

2. Brooks Reed or Akeem Ayers, DE/OLB - Kansas City needs help across from Tamba Hali.

]3. Julio Jones, WR - The Chiefs want to trade up for Julio Jones. There's a good chance they may do so if Jones drops to No. 12.

NATE SOLDER?!!!!!
What the ****?

Walt's done lost his mind.

Pioli IGNORED positional value with the Jackson pick.

5-techs are way down the list of importance in a 34 defense.

I think Newton will be the QB to fall like a stone in this draft. I just don't see Ron Rivera's first pick being a QB. I think he will go defense especially since he is a defensive minded coach. If the Panthers don't take newton he falls a long ways. I think Cincinnati has thier eyes on Blaine Gabbert.

So? Defensive minded coaches don't always take a defensive position first. And samething can be said for an offensive minded HC(Ex.: Haley)

This may sound stupid but theoretically would it be cheaper (trade wise) to get into the top 5 opposed opposed to say around 10?

You hear all the top 5 teams want out of the pick, I wonder if any of them would take a similar deal to move back and avoid laying the $$$?

When was the last time a pick in the top 5 was traded?

The 2009 Draft when the Jets traded up to get Sanchez?

The Browns got a 1st and 2nd in return. Would you want the Chiefs to give up a 1st and 2nd in this draft?

That is right you never know until it happens. It is JMO based on the fact that they just drafted Jimmy Clausen last year in the 2cd I believe. And if a team misses on a QB that high it sets the franchise back several years. And I think Newton will be a miss for a while he is very raw.

The Dolphins used a 2nd round pick on a QB for 3 years in a row. What's your point?

I have also been hearing the name Danny Watkins at 21 for us from Lombardi and Mayock.

None of this matters. We're drafting Danny Watkins.

Already made it. Newton is raw and they have other needs on that team. In todays NFL where coaches have short time frames to win it would make more sense to go with Dareus or AJ Green and see what you have in Clausen. Especially sense Newton is going to struggle he is not the sharpest tool in the shed and has a lot of baggage.
