I am not comparing this with the previous bonds we grew up with. Only with CR. Compared to CR, this story was awful. The action was great but the story was blah. Didn't suck you in like CR did at all.

Saw Quantum of Solace last week. I added it to the Netflix list not realizing that the wife hadn't seen Casino Royale (blasphemy!). So we watched CR and then QoS the next night. Maybe it was because we watched them almost back to back, but I was really disappointed with QoS. I thought the plot was weak and I really didn't care what was happening. The villain wasn't very villainous and it was the weakest "offing" of a villain I can remember in any movie. I want a big fight with Bond just making it to the gun or the guy flying out a window and landing on a fence or something not
Spoiler!
I liked the ending when he tracked down the guy in Russia. It felt more CR than a lot of the rest of the movie. I didn't mind the shakiness of the camera in the action scenes, though. I must be used to it in movies now. The wife was rather meh about QoS too, but I told her I was glad she got to see CR, since it is such a great flick. |
