tbh the offense was put in place and controlled by Whisenhunt. He even called the plays for the awhile before Haley took over.

1. Florida is a much better place to live than KCMO
2. $$$ - probably is the biggest factor, UF may give him twice the amount he's making in KC, but not like he has to worry about $$$, that ND buyout was probably a monsterous payment.
3. Maybe eventually he wants to be a HC in college again, and getting back into the NCAA levels will help eventually accomplish that, who knows?

I really hope McDaniels doesn't go to KC. Only a real douche would go inside the division one year after coaching a team.

If Weis leaves for any reason I wouldn't be shocked (or thrilled) to see a combination of Carthon and Sirianni promoted to that position, which allows Haley to keep his hand in the cookie jar...

I think a lot of Weis's motivation will be related to how he perceives he is treated by Pioli, Haley, and even Clark Hunt.

I think a lot of Weis's "climb the ladder" desires were satisfied (if not pleasantly so) by the ND experience.

I'm guessing he stays put, possibly for quite a while.

I'd like him as our OC. Not over Weis, but Josh is a very good OC. Not so much HC.

If Carthon was going to have his hand in anything, he would have been selected when Chan was let go.

This is complete "throw it against the wall and see what sticks bullshit" simply based on the Mortensen report.

The only reasoning that I could think might give the story credence is if a) Weis prefers the college game, b) doesn't get along with Haley, c) because of medical or other reasons prefers the college schedule, d) all of the above.

For all we know this isn't "news" at all. For all we know Weis and Haley always knew it would be a one-year thing.

Or it could be complete BS.

If there was an offensive coordinator of the year award, we’d vote for Charlie Weis of the Chiefs. Matt Cassel has played mistake-free football, Jamaal Charles might win the rushing title, and a long-struggling offensive line has turned things around.

Despite all that, there is increasing chatter that Weis may not return to the team in 2011.

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen warned on last week’s Countdown not to be surprised if Weis was replaced by Josh McDaniels after the season. That report seemed so out of left field it didn’t really light a media fire.

Now longtime Gainesville Sun columnist Pat Dooley throws gas on the notion, saying that Weis could end up as the offensive coordinator at University of Florida. Here’s Dooley on his radio show, via SportsByBrooks.com

“In terms of Florida’s Offensive Coordinator, if you’re driving in your car, I want you to pull over. When I say this, you’re going to freak out. . . . I think your new offensive coordinator for the Florida Gators is going to be Charlie Weis.

“I’ve heard this from some people in the NFL, that that’s going on. My first reaction was, ‘are you kidding me, why would Charlie Weis leave Kansas City to go to Florida in the same job’? … Wouldn’t make a whole lot of sense.”

Dooley is a well-respected name that is not known for just throwing stuff against the wall. Dooley’s claim also helps explains Mort’s report. We’ll keep a close eye on this one in the coming days. It’s unclear which side would be looking for a divorce. Or if its mutual.

The only logical explanation of a Weis-Todd Haley break would be something personal. (Weis wanting a lighter work schedule or to return to college? Personality conflict?) Weis’ results in Kansas City have exceeded all expectations.
