Sent my PS3 back for repairs.

Weeks pass, I'm tracking it, it's supposed to be delivered last thursday.

Never comes.

I (mistakenly) assume they don't deliver on weekends.

The wife leaves for 15 minutes to pick up McDonalds and when she comes back she brings in a note on the door saying they tried to deliver but couldn't, come pick up your package.

The front door was wide open and I was no more than 15 feet from it the entire time.

Whatever.

I call and get someone who doesn't speak english well enough to understand. Not an immigrant with an accent, a completely incomprehensible blubblering fool I honestly can't understand.

First time I've ever angrily stated "transfer me to either your supervisor or someone who can speak better ****ing english!"

I was transferred to a woman with a heavy mexican accent ( ) who, oddly enough, could answer my questions.

Apparently Sony Inc. ships their packages super duper high priority and a 3rd party was hired out to deliver mine (read: any asshole with a van.) Even though this guy was tracked to still be in my town I have to now pay (****ing PAY) to have him leave the package here today.

And here's the kicker. Even though it's here TODAY, and the store is open TODAY, I can't pick up my ****ing 4 week late PS3 until ****ing tuesday because "HIGH PRIORITY" shipping only operates on specific days of the week.

I have either talked to the dumbest customer service rep alive or FedEx is total $#it.

Either way I'm done with them...

Something I do when a package is coming that requires a signature is that I will leave a note with a signature and permission to leave it on my doorstep. 9 times out of 10 they will leave it for me.

Well we've seen that deal about mega-sized operations hub that shows-off FedEx's Memphis operation, it's pretty impressive. Like a lobster that gets shipped to Europe overnight... Unfortunately they don't show the 3rd party folks/conveyor belt that throws packages into a dumpster.

I used to have to do this too. And yes, often times it worked, sometimes not..

I worked at UPS for a short stint unloading the trucks. It was horrifying to me how crappy they handle packages. They literally reach up and knock them all down to unload them. Their reasoning.... Its all insured.

Those conveyors inside the assorted buildings turn into trash compactors. The buildings run SO MUCH volume that shit just literally gets smashed up while waiting on the belts. I'd bet a C-note that's what happened to Hamas' wifes phone. It probably got stuck between a bundle of tires and a piece of lead someone is shipping. They do a good job of sorting those things apart in the buildings, but on the belts and in the trucks is another story entirely.

Unless it needs a 'Direct Signature'. What you are talking about is an 'Indirect Signature' which is used most of the time as you stated. But that agreement is determined by the company shipping and how they want their products to be received by their customers, whether it be a full release with no sig, indirect sig or direct sig.

If Sony requires a signature, it's not FedEx's fault they didn't leave just leave it. And no, they're not just going to walk into your house if the door is open unless they feel like getting shot. They likely knocked and nobody answered...they leave a note.

And no, they're not going to just stop they're route and turn around to get back to you. Drivers have full scheduled days where literally minutes count.

No you can't just go get it yourself. Why? b/c your package is likely sitting with 100 others packages on a truck amongst a fleet of other trucks and likely is still running it's route until the day is done when the drivers and ppl that coordinate those drivers are going home for the day.

Well actually you could go get it yourself, but you're going to have to wait for them to get the package off the truck and hold it at their pick-up area which you'll likely be waiting just as long as if they just redelivered it, if not longer...

The fastest way you'll get your package is just wait for the next business day, and they'll try to deliver it again. If your not going to be there, it's the shipper that would have to allow it to be left w/o signature and good luck getting Sony to do that for you...

I understand things like this are frustrating, but there is little to be done about it and you will have the same problems with any other shipping service. UPS? Same. DHL? Same. USPS. Bwahahahaha!!!

One of my very close friends is a FedEx courier and I hear the daily challenges all the time.

Yeah, that's why I'm getting giddy these days because it's being shipped USPS. It seems like UPS and FedEx (outside of the overnight arena) are becoming less relevant.

The locked mailbox makes ALL the difference in the world, and that's something UPS and FedEx prolly won't ever get.

You do uh, realize that the USPS receives NO tax dollars and is in fact financially burdened by the US goverment, which forces the USPS to prefund retirees health care benefits?

Again, USPS, no tax dollars received. The idea that it is supported by the government is a patent falsehood. It is, however, ran by it, which makes it distraught by government mismanagement without the dollars to back it up.

Also, everyday at our post office FedEx and UPS drop off around 500-1000 packages that they drop off at USPS because it is cheaper for them to do so.

Ok, finally got the PS3 today.

After them telling me they wouldn't be delivering it to the local FedEx and it would be delivered to my house I waited here all ****ing beautiful day long.

I get a call at 5:30 from the local FedEx "Hi Mr. Rausch, your package is here."

****. Wasted ****ing day.

Whatever, I have my PS3.

Get home and there are two letters inside. One is the standard form that says I have new 90 day warranty, what model I got, etc. The other is a note saying that my original PS3 was fixed due to "minor damage to the case."

This is true, the very corner of my case was bent just a bit. What I don't get is that they determined I'd get the very same PS3 back and yet they still decided to wipe the ****ing HDD and erase all my $3it unnecessarily.

That is strange. I ordered something once where a signature was required by the seller so the driver wouldn't deliver it unless someone would sign. I called Fedex and they asked if I wanted to pick it up at one of their pickup points. I said yes and it was there waiting for me the next day.

UPS has never, not once, failed us. USPS is very good as well.

FedEx ****s up about once a week.
