Eric Fisher doesn't suck

He's quietly having a solid season. I know that will piss some people off because he isn't playing like a former #1 overall pick, but it's the truth. The bottom line is if he becomes an above average LT it was still much better than taking Joeckel, which is what Pioli and mostly all the other GM's would've done.

I never understood why Reid moved him to RT. Stephenson was getting owned at LT anyway, so a shakeup couldn't really cost us anything.

Fisher isn't as bad as CP would have you believe. He's an average NFL offensive lineman at this point.

Nobody is claiming that's good value for a #1 overall, and if he never gets any better it will be a huge bust. But he was always going to be a project/upside pick.

Here's hoping Reid can find an arrangement of the deck chairs that at least lets him mature somehow, even though I think we can all agree that with the personnel on this offensive line, we are trying to build a doghouse without any nails

It had more to do with the changes in the OL. The one that started Sunday against the Steelers was "good enough." The ones prior were not.

I'm talking about his run D and pass coverage. From a pass rushing standpoint, he still needs experience but he clearly has athleticism that can't be coached. His first step is really, really good.

If I had to guess, Stephenson was never that good at RT. He, at times, showed some capability as a LT. So, they line him up next to a proven LG in Grubbs thinking they could mask him a little. Again, purely guessing, but they assumed a similar role with Fisher being good enough to carry the right side with an inexperienced LDT at RG. It kinda sorta worked, then it imploded.

Allen is apparently fully healthy so he goes back to his preseason RT, Fisher goes back to LT. And they were able to get reps in against a Pitt D that frankly isn't what it used to be.

So they got the realignment, and they got a little lead back in their pencils at the same time.

Probably correct. I think this is as "good" as it gets this year. Maybe next year the keep everyone in position from LT through C and move Allen to RG and find a solid RT. Or maybe LTD and Allen develop at RG and RT respectively.

Hopefully Allen stays healthy and can prove that he's above average at RT. If so....give that man a new deal and leave Fisher at LT for his last year and make him earn that new contract as well.

I've never really liked Allen at G, but I'm ok with him at RT if he can build on yesterday. He played well enough at tackle in college to get drafted high, and don't get the concept of idea of drafting college tackles for NFL guards.

At least this way, we'll most likely see this line get snaps for 2 games against teams that aren't overly amazing up front on D before we get Denver again, with Wolfe this time.

This. We need some continuity on the Oline. I'm also thinking we pick up the 5th year option on Fisher.

We'll see about that. His 5th year tender is worth an average of the top 10 OTs in the league. That's going to be huge.

I hope Fisher continues to play well. We need him to be good to protect that future QB

It looks like his 5th year tender would be around $10 million.

They have no other option than to pick it up. They can't spend another high selection on a left tackle and it's unlikely they can nab a starter in the 2nd round.

If Fisher continues to play like he did on Sunday at LT, he'll be more than fine. Personally, I think he'll only get better.
