When does Smith lose the team?

In his defense the play calling the last few weeks, particularly on 3rd down has been the worst I have ever seen. Also, the OLine can't block a good HS team right now for shit.

That being said, he is consistently bailing out way too early and missing way too many open receivers. The times where he needs to just let the ball fly and see what happens stopped after game 5.

So to the point, watch the int at the end of the Bills game and look at Kelce's reaction. Typical to a point but after the calling out after the Giants loss, you have to wonder when the offense is going to start tearing itself apart?

On the last 2 drives of the Bills game, he missed a wide open Wilson for 4 yards on 4th and 4 and went deep to Hill and threw incomplete. Then on the last play of the game for KC, Kelce is open and he threw into double coverage.

I think there are a lot of reasons for a civil war on the offense, from the coaching, to play calling to blocking ...but Smith has shit his pants the last several games and even those who have tried to defend him can no longer do it.

Someone in another thread said that Mahomes isn’t getting any reps with the starters. If that’s the case, then it may be the reason Andy hasn’t and likely won’t put Alex on the bench and put Mahomes in. Personally, I still put him in, see what he can do. Certainly won’t be any worse than it has been. If he doesn’t produce, then maybe Alex will be jolted enough to think he better get off his arse and do something.

It doesn't have to be 100% vs 0%. Andy can get some blame while still keeping the point that Alex has fallen apart since the Chargers game.

The entire second half was built around gimmicks because when we ran a regular offense, Alex refused to throw to his primary read or checked down the majority of the time. It was Matt cassel bad. Our entire 2 minute drill in the end Alex was literally checking down on almost every play. Its actually pretty impressive we has any offensive momentum whatsoever in the second half considering it was pure gimmickry.

Incorrect.

If EITHER of them was willing to say something I think they should have. SOMEONE needs to challenge Andy and quit stroking Alice's ego. Lose to the Jets and there is no chemistry in this lockeroom anyway. I am intrigued by this Robinson detail. I would love to see the exact quote.

He fell apart in the Steelers game.

Alex was excellent vs. Washington and Houston

I think boomer esiason was right that the Chiefs are doing this to boost Alexs trade value. His value is higher if teams aren't 100% sure that the Chiefs will cut him. At this point, his value is dropping enough that his trade value is becoming worthless anyway. I think the Chiefs including Reid know that Alex is gone next year. They're either playing him out of respect, because there are locker room leaders like Houston that would be pissed, or because they don't want to throw mahomes to the wolves. I don't think Reid or veach or Nagy are stupid enough not to see our qbs limitations.

Houston would be upset if they benched Alex Smith? the guy who has produced a whooping 19 points against 2 horrible defenses? hmm.. yeah, i dont think thats it.

This is what I thought was the entire truth. Alex sucks balls running the regular offense, receivers running open, and then Andy has to try to get cute just to compensate for aforementioned suckage by his QB. It's not the play calling that is pissing me off with Reid, it's his insistence on trotting out that shitbag of a QB week after week. When Alex was balling out for like 2 games this year, Andy didn't have to resort to all the screens and short-dump, shit-show calls like he has to now.

I think that's where NJChiefs is pretty much right... Andy deserves some blame, and I'd venture 47% because he won't make a change at QB and 3% of actual shitty calls. The other 50% is on Alex for failing Reid.

Here it is. I was a bit off, but it is still telling when combined with Mellingers words following what he said.

http://www.kansascity.com/sports/spt...185257518.html

I remembered it with the headline to the article, and combined those two thoughts. Though Mellinger asked him if he knew what was wrong with the offense and how to fix it. My bad.
