2014-2015 NBA off-season Lebron goes home thread.

I will update this when the schedule is announced in a couple of weeks, but I will open with the new uniforms for the Charlotte Hornets below.

I see how stupid you are.

Kevin Love is a top 2 or 3 power forward. He's the 3rd biggest name "available" right now. If you and Rustshack want to pretend that only the Cavs are interested or would be able to trade for him, and that Love is only interested in the Cavs, go right on ahead. But it makes you look stupid(er).

So I'm not quite sure how you think Cleveland has any advantage right now.
Neither team has an advantage. But you have said Minnesota "holds all the cards." They don't.

In fact, everything you're saying is counterintuitive to that.

The wolves are "almost assuredly going to trade him." Exactly. Everyone knows they HAVE TO TRADE HIM. WHICH LOWERS THEIR NEGOTIATING POWER.

That negotiating power plummets if they trade him at the deadline.

My god. You are so ****ing thick skulled it's astounding. No one - not one ****ing person, save YOU - is saying that Cleveland is the only team interested or able to trade for him. We are talking about what Cleveland should be giving up in the exchange. That's it.

The only other realistic destinations, though, are Golden State (which is all but dead) and Boston. Boston has a 10M trade exception with Paul Pierce but that expires on Thursday. That means Boston needs a guarantee they can re-sign Love in the next 36 hours. NO ONE IS TRADING FOR LOVE UNLESS THEY KNOW THEY CAN EXTEND HIM. GET THAT THROUGH YOUR HEAD.

If someone DOES trade for Love without that guarantee, they either A) aren't giving up a potential superstar, or B) are ****ing stupid.

Which is what I've been saying.

God.

NO!

Dallas is not gonna sign Parson's. They offered him the MAX because they KNOW Houston will match it, (Houston has 3 days) thus grossly over pay to keep him. It could effect the Rocket's chances of signing Bosh or some other key Free Agent if it's not done within the next 3 days. Its a move that will most certainly force Houston to tie up a large sum of money for season's to come. Force your rival to pay - the game behind the game.

Just because everyone knows they'll trade him doesn't mean they'll take a shitty offer for him. Like I said before, they had a deal done with the Cavs already that included the 1st overall pick. Why would they accept less now?

What would a trade look like? There is no chance Minnesota would do it without top pick Andrew Wiggins being in the mix, and while I would do that the Cavaliers are rumored to be hesitant. It’s also going to take some of those future first round picks and some other young players of quality as well — Anthony Bennett and Tristan Thompson are not going to cut it.

Even that may not be enough — Boston has been trying to use a combination of young players and picks for some time now and had no success. Flip Saunders in Minnesota has wanted younger but more established players, guys such as Taj Gibson or his real target Klay Thompson.

Whether Wiggins could get him to change his mind depends on how highly Saunders had Wiggins rated.

And even then Saunders might try to use this as leverage to get Golden State to throw Thompson in their offer, or to pressure other suitors.
Once again, Minnesota holds more cards than the Cavs. There are multiple teams interested. They don't have to rush into a deal they don't want because they have 6 months to get it done.

Have I said anything contrary to that? I agree with you. With that said, Cleveland isn't the only team that can extend him. They're not the only team that interest Love. And because of that, Minnesota holds more cards than they do.

It's that simple. Minnesota is the only seller, and Cleveland is among many buyers. Supply and Demand.

I mean I guess I do remember getting a shit ton of shit for saying Iowa State would beat TCU, and they ended up doing it a few months later. I also got a lot of shit for saying we would upset OSU... And we did.

But I barely talk about their football, mostly their basketball. And yeah they get better every year just like I say.

I would for sure for $15mil a season - especially if no BIG FA is signed within the next 3 days. But then there's the whole "City Rivalry" thing that runs much deeper than the Mavs and Rockets and I think because of it, the Rockets won't do the "smart" thing and let him walk for THAT kind of $$$. So I'd bet anything they match the offer. (They've been saying all along they would)They're allowed to and not face a cap hit due to the "Larry Bird Free Agent Rule" BUT it will tie up cash down the road and in order to use it AND sign a key FA they'd need to sign said key FA before signing Chandler and they must do it within the next 3 days or Chandler's salary WILL COUNT against the cap THIS season making it very hard to sign anyone to a MAX deal.

Lebron needs to make his decision quickly. IF he's not returning to Miami, there's a good chance that Bosh will sign with Houston for MAX $$$ and then the Rockets can match the Mav's offer for Chandler and be back on course to chase a title having improved this off season. If things don't go that way, it's a pretty big setback.
