Well what I didnt understand, after the "downtime" they gave out a little pet to all the testers. Now why do that if your character is just going to get wiped and you won't be playing any more?
Is it just to test to see if they can do it? Also I really enjoyed it. WoW can go suck it, I am hooked and hope to get into more beta stuff. |

The week after my first test was hard. I couldn't play anything else.
I'm not sure when the last testing weekend is. I hope it's not next weekend for a couple of reasons. First being that my parents are visiting, so I wouldn't be able to play much. The second being that closer to launch means it's less of an agonizing wait after the servers go dark. But the weeks waiting for the game to come out have been dragging by like nothing else I can remember the last few years. It's like time is stretching out and laughing at me. That about sums up my beta weekend, too. I still kind of enjoy playing WoW, but I'm not able to play it for long without getting bored. |

Then another part of me thinks that given people's plans for Thanksgiving, testers may not be able to play as much that weekend. Also, I'm sure the BioWare team would like to celebrate Thanksgiving, too. But since my beta was over Canadian Thanksgiving weekend, if I had to pick, I'd say the next test would be Thanksgiving weekend. |

I think it's probably Thanksgiving weekend as well. It seems pretty unlikely that they'd turn around so quickly, especially after the technical issues it appears they had over the weekend. And they were very vague about saying a "weekend later in the month" and not "next weekend". Also, the giveaways for places like IGN are advertised through Friday the 18th, and I can't imagine they would send invitations out on the same day the test arrives. They're always good about giving people time to download (although reading around the web on friday, it sounded like a lot of people weren't smart enough to take advantage of it and tried installing that day).
As far as the cosmetic pet goes, it was probably a test of the system for instituting the pre-order pets. In our previous builds, I did find an astromech available on a vendor in one of the final areas on Coruscant, but I didn't want to spend whatever it cost to purchase it (15k credits maybe). Which in retrospect was kind of silly because the virtual money was vanishing the next day. But I think at that point I still had the delusion that I could make it to 25 and get a mount (which I eventually did during my second weekend). |

Reading impressions today, it's almost universally positive. I'm a little surprised by that. I expected that with a much wider audience there would be many more complaints, kind of how the second (larger) testing weekend group had a lot more vocal negativity than the first. But that doesn't seem to be the case. Lot of withdrawal going on this morning.

For you Beta testers:
The SWTOR website is down, so I can't check to see recommended specs. I'm curious if my computer will handle the game. I built this PC for Vanguard when it came out which was REALLY graphics intensive at the time. This computer ran it fine. I usually don't run on the highest settings, medium quality is fine for me. I really want to play it, but I really don't want to buy a new PC. Core 2 Duo 2.4 ghz, 2GB DDR2, ATI 1950Pro 512MB I've also a laptop, Core i5 2.4 ghz, 4GB DDR2 Video card is just a built in Intel though... Last edited by Molitoth; 11-15-2011 at 08:22 AM.. |

Here are the system requirements from Wikipedia:
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4000 or better / Intel Core 2 Duo Processor 2.0 Ghz or better Memory: At least 1.5 GB RAM for XP / 2 GB or better for Windows Vista/7 Graphics: ATI XT1800 or better / NVIDIA 7800 or better / Intel 4100 or better. 256 MB minimum video RAM, shader 3.0 or better fully compatible graphics card. OS: Windows XP / Vista / Windows 7 DVD-ROM: 8x or better I think you'd be ok as long as you didn't max out the display options. But I'm not the computer hardware nerd I used to be, so I could be wrong. |

Thanks huff, it looks very comparable to Vanguard min requirements.
Since I'm fine with playing on Medium graphic settings, I should be fine. I don't care about Spell particles and all that, I just want to be able to move around without chunking. |

When I start chunking, I normally stand still, or maybe lean forward.

New build going online tomorrow. They are not wiping characters this time and they're dedicating a new server to high level play with pre-generated level 40s. I don't know if the characters from last weekend will carry over or not. Either way, I'm thinking (hoping) that means this weekend is definitely out.
Today's exactly 30 days from the head start. |
