Dude. Don't overcomplicate it. The opening game for the Celts vs. Heat was one of the most highly-anticipated opening days in NBA history. The Celts were pumped, at home, and it felt like a playoff game from end to end. They followed that by going on the road the next day to play a team opening THEIR home season with high energy after the James debacle.

Rondo was the best player on the floor in the opening game. He definitely didn't play as well last night. Shaq only needs to be adequate, nothing more. Jermaine is indeed horrendous but they really don't need him for anything. Perk will definitely add to the mix when he gets back.

I'm not too worried about the Celtics. Even though many of them can qualify for an AARP card, much like the Heat and Lakers they can probably sleepwalk through the regular season and still end up with, at worst, the 3 or 4 seed. IMO, when it comes to basketball and hockey, the entire regular season is basically an extended warm-up for the playoffs.

Wade and Lebron are kind of the same player so if one of them goes down the other can probably carry the team. But there's definitely something to be said for the two opposing methods of building a team. Some coaches like to go after superstars and then have a thin bench. Crossing sports, Belichick on the other hand would rather have underwhelming starters but solid backups so that, if someone goes down, he can bring in someone off the bench without a lot of dropoff. Rating them 1-10, if the Heat's roster ends up playing skill-wise as "10, 10, 7, 4, 3, 2, 2, 2, 2, 1, 1, 1" then they might be in trouble down the road. Id rather have a whole bunch of 8s and 7s and 6s.

Even the win against the 76ers (where the Heat outscored Phil by a whopping 5 points in the 28 minutes that the "Big 3" were all on the floor) showed that the weaknesses people saw in the Heat are still there.

LeBron turned the ball over nine times trying to facilitate in a real offense instead of the garbage he ran in Cleveland. I said it last season in the Kobe/LeBron thread- LBJ's handles and passing have always been overrated by an offense that always had the ball in his hands. The one-pass offense he ran inflated his assist numbers and made him appear to be a far better facilitator than he is.

Bosh still looks like a guy that could've been had for the MLE. Just wait - that guy is going to be a mess for Miami. Give it a few months of him taking 12 shots/game while loafing up and down the floor and refusing to hit the glass hard. He's a soft, 'me-first' offensive player that doesn't do the things that Miami needs from its front-line.

I still can't see any way Wade and LeBron actually play off each other. They play the same game and occupy the same spaces. They are not complimentary players, no matter how often LeBron talks about being an evolutionary Magic.

LeBron should've gone to NY with Stoudamire and waited for Paul to come in 2011. That would've been a superteam. The pieces in Miami just don't fit well together.
