I'm cautiously optimistic about Smith. He's impressed me with his play the past 4 weeks and if he keeps playing like he is (and the rest of the offense is), you'll never hear a complaint about him out of me.

I don't know. You have Indy and San Diego, right? Your not talking about games where your offense won't have to do some work, I believe. But I suppose you are right, I wouldn't bet on it. 28 may be likely though.

It wouldn't make the Top 5 right now.

There are two weeks to play and 5 guys over 4,000 yards.

There's going to be between 10-14 guys that reach 4,000.

If he can get close to 4K and 30 TD's and keep INT's in single digits that would be a pretty good year.
But the only things that really counts right now is being in the Playoffs and Winning once you are in there, to me at least.

Agree.

To hit 4k is impressive alone. He's never done it before and this is a new team and a new offense...there's usually a learning curve to deal with.

No not even close. I see only 8 possibilities and only 3 teams have hit 4,000 yards so I dont see how 5 guys have.

There will be 10-14 teams that have 4,000. You aren't taking into account many teams in the top 10 -14 had multiple QB's starting many games.

Chicago
Green Bay
Cleveland
Philly

Edit: - Net vs gross I could see where 5 guys may have. Still wont touch 10.

One of us is apparently arguing something else.

Pest said something about AS hitting 4000 yards.

FIVE QB's have already done this with two weeks to go.

There are another five between 3,600 and 4,000 that should be locks, and another handful that could get there with a pair of 280+ yard games.

Not sure what you're arguing.

He's talking about individual QBs....not team passing stats.

Exactly.

In addition to the five that already have:

Manning
Brees
Stafford
Brady
Rivers

Let's see: five...plus eight...carry the one...

13.

Which coincidentally is between 10-14.

Net vs gross. Cutoff looks to be 11.

I think net passing yards is a better stat. Big Ben has lost 270 yards on sacks for example.

And like I said, it would be one of the best seasons ever by a Chiefs QB…

I know it's important to compare him to the rest of the league. But we also have to put it into the context of a team that hasn't won a playoff game in 20 years.

I've seen goalposts moved before, but this takes the cake.

Someone call Goodell and tell him his statisticians are doing it wrong.

Net versus gross. Holy Jesus. I've never seen that one used before.

Who moved the goal posts? I looked up passing stats on ESPN and it showed team stats vs gross stats.

Sorry of that chaps your ass my bad. You are so correct that 5 guys have thrown for 4,000 yards already.

Many would argue, not just me, that net passing stats are a more meaningful number as they are whats counted in total offense.

Unless your theory is sacks don't hurt your offensive production or stall drives.

BTW here is a better link that shows yardage lost due to sacks as well. http://wp.advancednflstats.com/playerstats.php
