So this team being 2nd in runs scored at this pint and mostly top 5 in other offensive team categories is not what we were expecting. We were not all expecting starting pitching to be awful which is unfortunate.

Chasing counting stats is irresponsible and hurts the team. Matheny just had to use Rosenthal for a second consecutive night and put a lot of extra pitches on Martinez's arm for a game that was decided.

That's the kind of managing that has longterm consequences.

Yeah but all managers do that. You have less than 110 pitches and cruising, you get a chance a the CG. It's not a Matheny thing.

Now batting Grichuk lead off against one of the best slider pitchers in the game? Now thats a uniquely dumbshit move. Why would any MLB pitcher throw him anything but a slider in an AB. He can't recognize a slider to save his ass.
