His ability to enforce a disciplined, hard-nosed style and create one of the best defenses in the NCAA with a bunch of borderline scrubs.

They play "good defense" because they limit their opponents possessions by playing a boring slow paced offense.

Sorry, but that isn't the way defensive efficiency stats work. It takes pace into consideration.

Nebraska has a good defense because they actually limit other teams from scoring at the rates that they usually do.

You should ignore the non-con when you are saying "5th best in the conference". It's comparing apples and oranges.

What was NU's def. eff. last season in conference?

Also, didn't Doc redshirt a couple of Jr's last season in order to have his big season this year?

Not good. But they were an awful team last year. A better comparable would be their 2008/2009 team that went 8-8.

Don't know. But he apparently pissed off his best offensive player (Standhardinger), and the guy left.
