Bomb Exploded at Boston Marathon Finish Line

I've heard an unconfirmed report (a co-worker's girlfriend called him) that there was a bomb at the finish line of the Boston Marathon, with people injured. I am hearing multiple sirens, though I'm not in the Copley area.

Not, necessarily, now that the US has shown its not shy with swift military action groups are starting to lay low after attacks. Especially the splinter cells. In the past we would see multiple terrorist organizations "claim" responsibility, not so much anymore. Still IMO this reeks of a domestic person/organization.

You would think. But then again, wouldn't it make sense to have a lot of smaller easier to pull off bombings like this than a bigger plot? Seems like it would be easier to get caught planning a bigger attack. A smaller bombing like this still pulls off the intended effect of scaring people.

The bombs that turned a celebration into a nightmare were small, and initial tests showed no C-4 or other high-grade explosive material, suggesting the packages used in the attack were crude devices, a federal law enforcement official in the intelligence community said.

A doctor at Massachusetts General Hospital, where some of the injured are being treated, told reporters Tuesday that patients had nails -- or sharp objects that were like nails -- and "pellets' inside their bodies. The bombs probably contained metallic fragments, Dr. George Velmahos, head of trauma care, said at a news conference.

Asked whether what was found in the patients' bodies could have come from nearby objects that exploded in the blast, Velmahos said he believes the materials were likely part of the explosive devices

If I were guessing, I'm thinking it's a Unabomber-type with no social life, or maybe a really ****ed up teenager. Doesn't seem like the MO of a political attack.
