Not surprised they traded Dyson but going to miss him. He was a significant part of both WS runs. Dude earned his respect from Royals fans.

Upside/perception is different. KC front office is confident Hosmer will have a season like 2015, but with the power gains he made last year. Hosmer is also the leader in the clubhouse. Cron's RH power would balance nicely with the rest of KC's lineup, actually (they're a little LH heavy). Just don't think it makes sense for KC. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Dang just saw this. Moved depth for need. Looks like a guy with some upside if he can harness control. Thank you Dyson for the last few years!

Apparently Dyson called into 610 and was clearly crying and very emotional about it.

Whew, that's a gut punch. I get the baseball side of it, though.
The play I'll always remember was the one that one of you posted earlier, of him gunning down Colin Cowgill at 3rd base in the 8th inning of Game 2 of the 2014 ALDS. My son and I were at that game, sitting in the upper deck on the first base line. That throw was a freaking laser. I lost my crap when he threw that ball. And I'd be crying if I got traded to Seattle, too. |

as is the case with Wade Davis and Ben Zobrist, Dyson will always be remembered by me with great fondness. Hell of a Royal.

Loved Dyson, but this trade looks good on paper. We got full value with upside,-and cheap controllable upside. This looks fine

Dyson did a lot for this team. He was literally the perfect 4th OF. Could give you 200-300 ABs, play good defense, and was a pinch running bullet you could insert wherever you wanted. I always thought his lack of power would've made it tough to give him 600 ABs though.
Flipping him for 4 years of a guy with a pretty good arm is a solid swap. There's nothing saying they couldn't try to re-sign him next offseason either, but Dyson will be 33 this year. |

It's a tightrope to walk when you're trying to compete and build for the future. The Soler and Karns deals allow us to do both this year I think. If Soler hits 20 HR (I have him at 27) and Karns can give us 20+ decent starts we may have even gotten better for 2017

Don't like the idea of trading a guy that's personally close with some of the more valuable members of the roster...

I fully expect Hosmer and Cain to have major seasons. I would almost be willing to bet that Hosmer might be a darkhorse in the AL MVP race this year. |
