I was not trying to troll anyone. It just seemed like an incredibly obvious statement that everyone already knew what was going on. Imagine that someone was overly sensitive toward what I said so they had to attack with that same ole shit. Then you come along with another one of the stupid assumptions and talking shit out your ass. I have lived through 3 tornadoes in my life. Oklahoma has been on high alert for a week.

I really hope this is not true... but there's a ton of buzz going around the web right now that Tim Samaras and his team were killed in the El Reno tornado yesterday. They were one of the three teams featured on Storm Chasers... alongside Reed Timmer and the TIV group that got that amazing footage last week.
What's sad is they were the group that was always super cautious. They were scientists trying to get data, not trying to drive into a tornado or get the most insane video. They would try and get out in front and put probes down, but still, they didn't take near the risks the other teams did. Hopefully this isn't true, but there are a lot of storm chasers on Twitter acting as if they know. But we know how that goes. |

Yeah I was hoping to find something more official. Seems to be true though... too much smoke for there not to be something to it. Just brutal if true... all the idiot yahoos you see out there making bad YouTube videos and the guy who was always level headed and considered one of the best gets killed.

As TK said, his group was always super cautious - I wonder if they got stuck with a disabled vehicle or something. |

So it happened pretty much like in the movie Twister. It made an unexpected turn and they didn't have a chance after that.

How many times do we have to learn that when a violent tornado enters into a densely populated area during commute time, there will be chaos panic and death. How can even the most experienced chasers NOT know that all bets are off in that weather scenario.

As others have said, of all the groups on Storm Chasers, his was the most cautious and science related. The tornado took a sudden unexpected turn and got them, sounded like the tried to escape but could not make it out on time. The circle in the pic is where they were caught.

Is there a reason why they stay north/northeast of the super cells (which tornadoes always travel) instead of southwest?
I guess that's where the important data is. |

Alot of the reason they do not stay southwest is that is where alot of the damage is, so its very east to get stuck in a mess of fallen trees, power lines, utility poles ect.
