Texans reportedly not excited last night after getting Watson

This might be in a thread somewhere but I just wanted to make sure everyone saw this, very interesting....

So we have all heard today that NO, ARZ, SEA, and presumably Houston wanted Pat. Read this excerpt from someone within the Texans war room.

Quote:
Unlike the handshakes, hugs and backslapping that went on in other war rooms, many in Houston looked as though they had just awoken on Christmas morning and found no presents under the tree after it was announced the team had traded and selected quarterback Deshaun Watson.

Watching the stone-faced expression on the face of head coach Bill O'Brien and the subdued attitude of those sitting at their desks made me and others I was with feel something was not right.
It sounds to me like Mahomes was that 'present' that was not there for O'Brien and the Texans.

He is a slightly better Vince Young. Wanted no part of him.

I don't think Dorsey was ever interested in Manziel. Getting jumped last year for Paxton Lynch though on the other hand probably encouraged him to be more aggressive.

I like the pick, not sure how I feel about the trade to be honest. However I am certainly more excited about the prospect of having Mahomes than Lynch.

My friends in Houston are lukewarm over Watson. A few are cautiously optimistic, but the overwhelming majority down there wanted the home state boy.

He's got a decent chance to be a long term starter, as much as any of the QBs picked in this draft do. All he's ever done is win games. He wasn't the best QB in the draft, but there's no reason for people to go all ChiefsPlanet and say he's worse than a schoolyard player just because he wasn't a Peyton Manning type prospect

Welcome to ChiefsPlanet by the way!

I think Watson is going to be a fine starter, but the Alex Smith comparisons are appropriate.

In a few years they're going to start understanding what football purgatory is all about.

I wanted to listen to some local radio coverage of the draft, so I reluctantly turned on Keitzman's show. He went on and on about Mahomes' win-loss record at Texas Tech.

I remembered why I never listen to that ****stick. It's impossible to listen to him without wanting to just kick his ass.

The stars aligned and prayers have finally been answered for an awesome quarterback for the Chiefs future. Hey a Brett Favre-Aaron Rodgers type quarterback I'll take that in a heartbeat and skipping on the Geno Smith's and Johnny Manziel in previous drafts. This was meant to be.

I am so tired of the Chiefs having boring quarterbacks all these years, I want to be excited every time our offense takes the field with Patrick Mahone at the helm.

Thanks for the welcome!

Agree regarding Watson. Comparisons down here are to Vince Young and RGIII in that he (Watson) was surrounded with incredible talent--so much so that many felt it was almost impossible for him to fail.

The Texans don't have the breadth of talent, comparitively, that the national champion Clemson team had this past season--but they're working on acquiring it. So same thing goes with Watson as it will with Mahomes: Keep them on the bench for the first full season and let them assimilate their skills and abilities in the NFL way of doing things.

But as a former KC resident and Texas Tech alum, I'm still gonna give the nod to Mahomes and absolutely freaking REJOICE that the Chiefs got him.

A QB is only as good as the hands and situation he is put in. Time to put Reid to the test again, but I have not one complaint about the team being handed over.

That's cool, and i hope Mahomes pans out. But it's not like we jumped Green Bay, Indy, or New England for our qb pick.

Houston is a shit franchise too.
