So, the Chiefs gave up their 27 this year in round one. And a hypothetically placed round one next year. Plus a third. In this one instance, we need Alex to excel as it lessens the burden on the front office for next years draft. Were the Chiefs to tank, then Buffalo could end up with the number 1 pick next year, and the first pick in the 3rd round. Whereas if the Chiefs win, Buffalo's new picks are late round or worst, 32 overall, and we bitch a little bit less about Mister Smith.

I figured smith would fall into a Super Bowl win in KC then join the local broadcast team and take lennys place.

But then reality set in and I realized it's Alex Smith

Alex's team made it to the Super Bowl the first year kaep was there pushing him. Even if alex wasn't taking snaps he was helping with the mental game

Without Alex kaep is now done

Mahomes can learn anything and everything of value that Smith could offer in one season. And most of that has absolutely NOTHING to do with the playing of the game itself.

As to that other shit, the Chiefs would be better off if Smith went to a franchise that needs his "stabilizing" QB play, and hopefully KC could make a few bones off of his departure.
As the Chiefs have made it abundantly clear that they are intent on becoming an exceptional and elite franchise, I see no need to keep the afterbirth of the last gasp of mediocrity hanging around my players and staff.
