Stanzi Supporters Need To Apologize

For the past 2 seasons you wasted our time discussing someone more irrelevant than Mr. Irrelevant.

Hows the comparison to Curtis Painter look now?

Today we are all Brady Quinn supporters.
You guys really think Stanzi is crap after last night, I got news for you. There isn't a QB on any roster who is making plays with their own blockers in their lap. I've never seen so many Chiefs blockers get bullrushed so easily in such a short time period. Every negative play Stanzi made was due to one of his blockers getting pushed back into him. Now I'm not saying the dude is a world-beater nor am I suggesting he's even a decent backup. I'm just saying that you can't tell anything based on shitty blocking through 1 quarter of play last night.

People need to apologize for supporting a player that is a Kansas City Chief? Really?

I may not like Matt Cassel but as long as he is a Chief I hope he does well in games.

Pretty much this.

I'll admit when I'm wrong, but I'm not going to ****ing apologize to strangers on the internet. Nobody should. Ever. Even if a player I hate like Dexter McCluster ends up definitively a piece of shit, I wouldn't ****ing care about apologies from his supporters. I would prefer that they don't apologize, actually. That's kind of gay.

That excuse isn't going to work this time.

Stanzi had a guy open on a 3rd down IIRC it was suppose to be a quick slant he held onto the ball too long. It's interesting Quinn had no problem with a shit o-line.

You, there was a part of me last year that wanted that, but when game time came I just could not do it.

I want to win.

I don't make excuses for players when they screw up. I just call it how I see it. Stanzi probably shouldn't have thrown that slant early or late. Quinn would have done the same thing as Stanzi with blockers in his lap while he's trying to find an open man. When your pocket never develops because some guy is shoved 8 yards into the backfield, it's going to be a bad day. There are maybe 2 or 3 QB's who can make chicken salad out of that and they all run 4.4.

What's so bad about being supporting a player on your team that is riding the pine? Hoping they make the field?

We have all been supportive of players that havent panned out.

No need for an apology.

Don't come into a thread like this trying to talk sense. It never works.

Stanzi had the same thing happen to him last year in preseason. In fact, he had it far worse. He came out of those possessions looking great. He extended plays. Dodged rushers. Kept his eyes down the field. Made gutsy throws, some of which were even completed no thanks to the shitty receivers he had. Put Cassel in that game against the Bucs and you would have seen a pants-shitting more embarrassing than his game against the Ravens.

This time around, however, he showed none of that moxy. It was all gone. Unfamiliarity with the playbook? I don't know. I have no clue. What I saw from him was uneasiness. And that's why his performance last night is such an abortion. He showed none of the smoothness or cool composure that we know he's capable of in stressful situations. I don't know what happened, but it couldn't have come at a worse time.

Last night the blame falls squarely on his shoulders. He has no excuses for how he played last night, and deserves no excuses.

I agree Stanzi's protection was awful last year but I really don't remember a LG and a FB literally in his lap. Those guys weren't pushed near him. They were pushed INTO him. You can't throw the ball under those circumstances. Nobody can. He folded under pressure, no doubt about it. But I really don't think it's going to have that much of an impact on his evaluation. He did do a nice job of scrambling for 8 or 9 during one busted play but the 4th down play and the earlier sack were pretty rough.
