Blah.

I don't have a problem with the Marrero move, he has a career track record of killing lefties and Stairs doesn't, of course it'd help if he actually remembered to bring that with him to Kansas City. At least our starting pitching doesn't suck, I've waited a long time to say that. Hopefully Bautista comes out and pitches well tomorrow and salvages a win.
We're cursed.

We should not be bringing in Vet Latin American players. They end up waiting to suck once they get into our lineup.

Does anyone know what Marrero batted this Spring? I don't have it offhand..........

Well, who are you going to call out for the silent bats?

Gotay got a hit in the 9th when we needed a baserunner to tie the game. Hit a homer Sunday. Don't blame him.

Stairs triples and scores, then gets repaid by being lifted for Marrero who strikes out. Don't blame Stairs.

How about DeJesus - our leadoff hitter, batting .258, and hitless today.

How about Pickering, who Ken Harvey cannot nearly be so brutal as. Pickering is .200 on the season with a home run and 5 K's in 14 AB's.

Berroa has to put the ball in play in the 9th and at least give them a chance to make a mistake. It would have been better to try to bunt for a base hit than to chalk up the game-ending whiff.

Last of all, Buck is hitting .136 . I'm not sure that a you couldn't hit .136 by simply holding the bat out over the plate.

All these years people have been bitching about the pitching coach, well, where the hell is the hitting coach. Can we at least get a hit every other inning?

Well listening to Pena on the postgame, even the announcers apparently knew Greinke was on a 85 pitch count today, because of the fact he took that ball off his arm the last time and they didn't want him to go from throwing 30 pitches one game and getting hurt to throwing 100 or more. I guess I'll live with that as long as we let him go to 100+ from now on....

Hopefully when Bautista is mowing them down, Pena leaves him in like he did vs. LAA...

Just maybe he was taking it easy on Greinke because of the arm being hit last week?

There is no offensive identity to this team - None. I've been saying this since we broke for Spring training. So, the fact that we suck at the plate is of no surprise. What's surprising was the lack of offseason movement to get a fn identity for this team. THAT FRUSTRATES THE FOCK OUTTA ME!

Screw that!! It's just plain chicken $hit.... the guy was fine, Pena just does not want to be blamed if the kids are get's blown out or something. He will let a guy gettin over TJ surgery go well over 100 pitches, but a guy who was hit by a ball but just fine go only 86.... there is no sense there, just pure spineless manager and organization.

There's one thing that bugs me, and I'm sure Allard and Tony know more about baseball than me, but here it is anyway.

I like Stairs, and all, but why play people like he and pickering? If we're going to have a low-rent, nothing-special lineup, do you want guys who are going to hit .250 (in pickering's case, in a good year) and chip in 15 HR's? Or should we get people who are better contact hitters, quicker on their feet, and try to manufacture runs?

I guess what I am saying is, you give up something if you have no power in your lineup, but is it worth running out 15 HR a year guys in your power spots? Why not use your organization's 9 best contact hitters, put the ball in play to force the other team to make plays, bunt, steal bases, and try to play to your strengths.

I dunno, perhaps I am stupid, but I don't know how much good it does.

I am fine with removing Greinke because of the bruise. Seems like I'm fine with every individual time they pull a young pitcher early. It's just that they always find an excuse to do it. There's always some reason why a chumpcicle like Field has to come in and give up a couple of dongs instead of letting Zack or Runelvys pitch to 2 more batters or something.

I heard them say it on the way to the game, so I'm pretty sure they knew it.

It wouldn't have been an issue if we could hit a ball out of the infield.

This line of reasoning makes me think of when people blame the Chiefs offense for losing games.

BTW, today was my first time seeing Greinke pitch. The kid is just phenomenal. I mentioned this in another thread, but he totally punked Sexson today. It was hilarious, made him look foolish. The radar gun said 62 after the first one, and 64 on the strike three. There was audible "whoa" from the crowd, and a standing ovation afterwards.

Considering Stairs plays harder then most guys on our team I will take him any day. As for Pick, well its not like Harvey is lighting it up here in Omaha and they are about the same age so that is a wash. You have to have a couple guys with a bit of pop at the plate in my opinion and that is what purpose they are to serve.

Yeah, I meant that Stairs is probably a poor example, because his effort is always high and he seems to give clutch hits and all that. But, what I really mean to ask is, at what point should you not keep a guy around only for power potential if they don't really bring much else.
