What music are you into right now???

I like all kinds of music. Country, rap , rock , classic rock, alt rock, jazz, metal rock, etc.....
right now I'm into "theory of a deadman". I've got a Rhapsody account and like to change my music to fit my mood. For the past week I've been into "theory of a deadman" Bad Girlfriend. which is an excellent song by the way..

But my question is ...What are the other Planetteers listening to???

To be honest I kind of stopped paying attention to most mainstream music and started going to a lot of local shows and getting into local bands.

Friend of mine turned me onto some Throwdown the other night. Their Venon & Tears album is electric!

I've never heard of the band before, guess they've been around for awhile, but a good hard driving sound.

It reminds me of a mix of Testament and Pantera.

I've finally found the first metal band that entertains and interests me: Between the Buried and Me. They have enough variety within their music, moving from slower, beautiful melodies to the harsher more traditional metal, to keep me interested.

As heard in recent episodes of that crappy show "The Hills".

Hated to watch that show but at least they showed Vedera's poster during some scenes where their producer's assistant was conversing in her cubicle at Epic's headquarters during the last couple of episodes.

Who watches that crappy show? I mean, I had to watch it to hear / see my kid but man, who'd watch it for any other reason?

Maybe I'm just way too old for it.

Tamil Tigers have established a presence in New York, New Jersey & Maryland. The FBI indicted 11 in 2007 and another this past of April all in the New York area.

I bet a big chunk of her money goes towards funding shiny knives. This way, everyone gets a chance to saw off a head, stuff it and hang it in their living room under the tree.

I agree that MIA supports the Tamil Tigers, that's been known for a long time. That being said, I interpret her comments about her dad differently. She's saying that, to her, her father is someone who wants to help people and change the world ala Bob Dylan. Now, with Bush's policies and the "war on terrorism", her dad is seen as some masked terrorist who beheads people. She isn't saying that her dad actually beheads people.

Also, as with many rap lyrics, I tend to separate the artist from the narrator, just as with poetry. Just because a speaker in a poem is espousing a particular point of view or claiming a particular lifestyle, doesn't mean that the author is speaking of him or her self. In other words, I think she's writing that lyric from the point of view of someone who hustles, doesn't give a shit about other's lives, and wants nothing but money, not that she herself participates in that or feels that way. I won't try to give some positive twist like people used to do for gangster rap and say that she's trying to raise awareness of these people and the problems, but I will say that it's will within artistic license to assume a persona when writing that is separate from one self.
