I was considering learning Spanish.

Anyone ever learned a new language? is so, what did you use to learn it? what was your experience? how long did it take to do so?

i took a couple years in high school, but that was a long time ago and i've forgotten much of what i skipped then.

I don't believe you. If she was tenured they could not and would not do that to her. They would just transfer her somewhere else.

I take it personally because I'm a naturalized US citizen who wanted to become and American. A large part of that is WANTING to assimilate. That includes learning the language (or, in my case, just the accent).

Many Latin American immigrants don't speak the language because they have no intention of assimilating.

Donger isn't a moron. He has a solid point that nobody should be forced to learn another language. But this isn't about that. Sofa King just WANTS to expand his mind and learn a different language.

That is simply false. How many latin american immigrants to you know? I am guessing zero with your shitty attitude...

Theres two different sectors of them...

1) Those who are true immigrants and want to stay here permanently...100% of those people DO want to learn english and assimilate, it is just very difficult and takes time...But they know their kids will.....etc...

2) Those who are 'migrant workers' and not true immigrants. They don't really care about learning english.....but they arent true immigrants so it doesn't matter that much to them. They plan on leaving one day.

Instead of 'dumbing it down' for us, why you just stop talking about a subject that you are obviously too biased and emotional to look at in a logical, thoughtful manner?

I create commercial business graphics and I don't NEED to know how to create a pdf, but it would be nice to know how if it helps me in my field. Correct? How is that any different from Sofa King's statement?

Yes, being able to communicate using language is easier than it is using hand signals. He doesn't NEED to learn Spanish, you're right, he can just keep communicating using his hands. So the options are:

- Keep communicating using hands.
- Mexicans should learn to speak English if they're working in America.
- Americans should learn to speak Spanish if they're working in America.

Which one is the most logical to you, sweety?

I learned English, but it was a long time ago and I was pretty young. Never had a formal lesson.

It's not really as simple as that, Lumpy. He wants to learn Spanish so that he can be more proficient at his job. And the only reason for that his clientele refuse to speak the language of the country they have illegally entered.
