Baldwin appears to be #2 WR

Chiefs | Jonathan Baldwin seems to be top choice for No. 2 WR job
Thu, 16 May 2013 16:37:02 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jonathan Baldwin appears to be the favorite for the No. 2 wide receiver job at this point but has not emerged as the dominant offseason player like he was last offseason. WRs Donnie Avery, Dexter McCluster and Terrance Copper are also expected to be candidates for the job.

I really hope he breaks out this year. I know most have written him off but by God he has some talent and just maybe Reid will bring it out. Anyway Avery is already hurt.

It's in there. Think of it as a word search. Everybody likes word searches.

Alex Smith is no Peyton Manning, but it does show at least that with proper guidance, assholes can become good players.

Baldwin's got a slim chance to make it work, but he's gonna have to be a smarter player. Offseason training doesn't mean shit for a WR if you can't get open.

He didn't even have a good game. He had one catch at the end. 30ish yard TD late.

Good god, that was 12 years ago.

Baldwin's more like a b-version of Sylvester Morris. We'd be lucky to get SlyMo's rookie production out of him at this point.

Hmmm...so you're saying a competent QB makes the WR? I don't think so. Thomas was so terrible because he couldn't practice to better himself because he was injured. When healthy he finally got to run plays and learn how to run efficient routes from the playbook and situations. His year with Tebow was average because that offense just didn't throw a lot. But with an offense that called for more passing he excelled.

As far as I know, the offense in KC has never really been anything but 50/50 Pass/Run so Baldwin really has no excuse as he certainly had time to better himself because he wasn't oft injured and also the offense passed just as much as it ran and his numbers were never average, they were WR4 type numbers. I now see your point but in my opinion it still isn't valid. No QB will make Baldwin better, he has to do that himself. Bowe didn't need a QB to make him good, he did it himself. And IMHO Baldwin should be a beast by now because he has got to watch Bowe practice and perform for a good while and yet....nothing. He's mentally unmotivated, and for a 1st round pick that's cut worthy.

JFC because of injuries. He barely played his first year. He was never bad because he flat out sucked, however Baldwin sucks because he just is that bad and you can take that to the bank. I can't believe you of all people are trying to make excuses. Give me a break. Comparison fail.
Well, he'll certainly outgain Cockmon the first 4 weeks

Compare their stats please. Just do it. No I'll do it right now. Their first 2 season respectively.

D. Thomas
2010 - 10 GP 22 REC/39 TGTS 283 YD 2 TD
2011 - 11 GP 32 REC/70 TGTS 551 YD 4 TD

Jon Baldwin
2011 - 11 GP 21 REC/52 TGTS 254 1 TD
2012 - 15 GP 20 REC/47 TGTS 325 1 TD

Now in 2010 Thomas had that shin/ankle injury and was never 100% healthy that year and outperformed Baldwin's 2011 season with less targets. Granted he had Orton throwing to him still he was probably 75% that year

2011, Thomas had TIM TEBOW throwing to him. Managed to still get more catches than Baldwin and yards and quadrupled Baldwin's TDs. Now unless you think TIM TEBOW is a better passer than any starting QB and most backups in the league then you're trying to win this argument just to not look dumb.

You say Thomas was a joke then Baldwin is no better than a walk on WR trying to make the team. You screwed yourself with your own statement.

I'm not WK anyone, although it'd be BK for me, but I'm saying stop talking junk about another team's WR when our own isn't even in the same league. It's ignorant and petty. And sad.
