PFF Rates Flowers #1 NFL CB Through Week 6
... and Reid says scheme fit wasnt the biggest reason he was let go. He did say he was happy to see him doing well and I can agree with that, I never had a problem with Flowers outside of my, apparently somewhat wrong, belief that he was a bad scheme fit.

There isnt much other Chiefs discussion going on, so heres something else to get mad at each other about...

First off, the Chiefs asked him to move to safety and he declined. They asked him to restructure and again, he declined.

Their options at that point were limited, so he was cut with the June 1st designation.

So the answer to your question is no, he would not have stayed at a discounted salary.

It's not so much that our corners are great, as it is that we've had good safety play, with or without EB, along with a GREAT pass rush. Also Jammell Fleming > Marcus Cooper.

And our offense helps a lot towards that also. Alex Smith's style of play helps the defense.

Dane has already covered this, but even IF Flowers would've tried harder to stay I dont care... the direction Dorsey wants to go, with taller, faster guys is exactly the right call in todays league.

Look around the league and you're not going to find any all-star 5'9 cornerbacks, especially if they're not even particularly fast... its an automatic mismatch for the offense to exploit.
