*** Official 2015 Royals Repository ***

In this thread: All things related to the AL Champions.

Duncan's Official Team Record prediction: 90 wins
Duncan's Official Team MVP prediction: Eric Hosmer

I can't wait for this season to start. The AL Central should be a very entertaining race. I'll give brief thoughts on each team the Royals must contend with to make it back to the postseason - strengths and weaknesses.

Detroit Tigers:
Strength: The offense is still full of powerful hitters, and Miguel Cabrera may be healthier.
Weakness: Rotation is questionable after Price and Sanchez, bullpen continues to be horrible.

Cleveland Indians:
Strength: Great manager and a deep, versatile lineup.
Weakness: The rotation is a question mark past Corey Kluber, and even he has a few questions about him.

Chicago White Sox:
Strength: 1-2-3 combo of Sale, Quintana and Samardzija is pretty formidable. Offense is anchored by Jose Abreu, too.
Weakness: Defense still has major questions, and this team has 20 games to improve by if it really wants to make the playoffs.

The Royals will be a division winner IF ...
1) Ventura and Duffy combine for 375+ innings of high-quality work
2) Eric Hosmer delivers on his potential with a FULL season of success rather than bursts
3) The deeper bullpen lessens the critical load on Herrera, Davis and Holland
4) Lorenzo Cain stays healthy
5) Either Alex Rios or Kendrys Morales bounces back to 2013 form

Let's get this started!

Doesn't really even matter. What he did was so reckless, that I don't care if he meant to hurt Escobar. Sorta the same way we don't care if a drunk driver meant to hurt the people in that other car

Lawrie is a ****ing crybaby. Someone should inform him how many time Royal hitters have been hit this season.

**** that guy, I hope he blows an ACL this season.

That's a bit of an extreme for an example, but I get your point. He knew what he was doing and he's responsible for his actions - much in the same way that Herrera has to take responsibility for his throw.

yeah, I was hesitant to post that because this isn't life and death, but then figured "ahh screw it, people will know what I mean"

On another note, I'm probably missing at least part of the game today and tomorrow, so I'm not putting up those 2 game threads if anyone else was wanted to do it.

When did an uber douchepunk like Brett Lawrie become the conscience of baseball, the guy who lectures others on how to play the game the right way? He's been pegged as an asshole with a me-first attitude since he was a minor leaguer, he throws tantrums on the field and he got suspended for throwing a helmet at an umpire.

And now this venerated veteran has Albert Pujols confiding in him that, jeez, those Royals are such immature jerks, aren't they?

I had no idea so many people are as blind as your average NFL ref. That pitch by herrera was NO WHERE NEAR bitchboy's head. The fact every one is saying it was, shows they all have it out for us. They liked it better when KC was a friendly place to come play and get a couple wins. They don't like the celebrations? Beat them and they won't celebrate. Lawrie's slide was one of the dirtiest plays I've ever seen. As Alnorth mentioned, intent matters not when you do something so reckless. He's all whining about safety, when he clearly has no regard for anyone else's safety. **** Lawrie, Reddick and the rest of the Oakland trash.

I was looking at all of the standings this morning. There are some terrible teams in the NL...damn.

San Francisco is 5-10
Miami is 3-11
Milwaukee is 2-12

Milwaukee and Miami's seasons are effectively over, and it's still mid April.

The worst teams in the AL are Minnesota and Seattle at 5-9. Minnesota isn't going anywhere this year, but Seattle should be a lot better. Wouldn't suck to see them keep struggling. They're already six games behind us in the wild card race.

Come on dude... 14 games in. Plenty of teams will go on 3-11 streaks. I do like Seattle struggling early, but a 6 game lead today doesn't mean much either.

I also love how guys who claim to have played the game are calling that a clean slide.

It was not a clean slide. Any time you go spikes up like that, it's not a clean slide. He went spikes up and raised his leg a foot off the ground. Not clean. Never will be clean. Always will deserve retaliation.

As mentioned, I think the Cain HBP started everything back up... and if it didn't get all the way up, Cody Ross going into 2B spikes up (Again) in the 5th or 6th inning of that game in an attempt to break up the 2x play took it the rest of the way.

If it escalates again in June, my guess is that Ross or Reddick will be the guy the Royals let wear one...

Also trying to take out a shortstop on the other side of the bag is a lot worse than taking out a 2B. At least the 2B is expecting a takeout slide, and he's sorta in the runner's way, and the 2B is always preparing to try to avoid it or at least make sure he's not planted and can go to the ground safely. (its also why the "neighborhood play" is not reviewable. Technically it is not an out if you touch and leave the bag before catching to turn the double play, or if you come very close but don't touch the base before throwing to first, but the umpires are always going to call it an out if its close enough, and MLB doesn't want to review it because they don't want the 2B to get hurt)

A SS on the other side of the bag is usually not expecting to be cleated, at all, he's just going to plant and throw.

The hitting of batters and sliding with cleats up were all on accident by the A's.
Hitting batters on the A's was all on purpose by the Royals
