*.* 2013 General Fitness Thread *.*
Welcome to 2013! Now get your ass in top physical condition!
**From the 2012 Thread** If you want to get back into lifting, or need a new lifting routine, START HERE: http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wi...inner_Programs If you have questions about the SS programs, look here: http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ Keep in mind that you're a novice lifter for a longer period of time than you think you are. Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started. Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Find it HERE: http://madcow.hostzi.com/5x5_Program/Linear_5x5.htm If you're a very advanced lifter (many, many years of CONSISTENT weight training), then there are lot of programs out there, and which one you pick is simply a matter of preference. If you're really that advanced, you should know what works for you and what doesn't by this point. |

Day 36 (I think):
Well, I'm switching things up a bit. Switching to a 14-day cycle (really, 12, because I'm ending the diet two days early because of a pool party that I just won't deny myself pigging out at), so last Saturday was my last power workout. I did my last depletion workout today, and will just do 5 tension workouts from here until the end of the diet (2-3 sets, 8-12 reps, medium rest periods). So here's the final tally on strength gains and losses. It could be a bit misleading on some of the numbers, simply because I was in the middle of a strength cycle when I started the diet, and I just tried to carry those numbers over. The reality is that the diet probably had little to do with my ability to progress on my lifts, *BUT* the good news is that it obviously did not cause me to go backwards (although a couple of lifts stalled out). Power workout strength gains/losses: Single Leg Squat - +11% Bench - No change, stalled Deadlift - +11% Military Press - No change, stalled BB row - + 20% So, that's all good news. This doesn't necessarily mean I didn't lose muscle. There could have been CNS adaptations that allowed me to progress on the lifts. But, since that's all I really care about, I'll take it. Workout: Leg Extension - 20x3 Leg Curl - 20x3 Machine Bench - 20x3 Pulldown - 15x3 Lat Raise machine - 20x3 DB curl - 15x3 Incline Bench Machine - 15x3 Cable row - 20x3 Shoulder Press Machine - 15x3 Triceps were fried, so I didn't bother working them. Soccer game after. Was extremely slow. Guess that means I'm depleted. No surprises there. Nutrition: Trutein shake 1.75 lbs Lean Top Sirloin Celery, coffee Totals: 1,294 cals, 10g carbs, 38g fat, 222g protein |

Yes. Yes it is lol
But it was gooooooood. Made my own marinade that's nearly zero cal, seared it on Bo sides, grilled it and let the juices keep it nice and tender. I kinda feel like I could win a food eating challenge of some sort. |

Some very fast shedding of fat (even faster than I expected). There have been a couple of days that I have really had some food cravings, but I can either push through it or (like Sunday) I just eat some beef jerky to try and get over that. FYI, I changed my diet slightly to try to get some more protein, so now my daily intake is 1200 calories, 198 g of protein, 13 g of carbs, 27g of fiber, 26g of fat. Wow, last night I had 5 grilled skinless chicken thighs, some grilled pineapple, and some wax beans in a raw honey/lemon zest sauce that my wife came up with. It was awesome. Even my boys were eating crazy amounts of it. I thought I made way too much, but we ate it all.
Then... I got it in my head that I wanted some frozen yogurt so I ate my ****ing body weight in frozen yogurt topped with candy and all the rest. I feel like a fat **** today. I think rest week is over after 2 days. |

I drink hot coffee all day, whether I'm inside or out, and it doesn't bother me at all.
