This is a franchise that has made the postseason 10 times in the last 14 seasons.

Supposedly its because of "Super 2" status.

My theory is that its collusion by the teams to incentivitze these players to sign contracts that cost them a year or two of free agency and the team doesn't have to deal with the arbitration years. You want to play in the big show, just sign this contract.

But, its just not the low payroll teams doing this its every team. Do the Cardinals really have to keep OT down in AAA because they want to save $2-$3 million a year for 2 years? At the most a total of $6 million tops over the length of the contract? Really? They made $65 million last year alone. So whats up if its not collusion?

I imagine they expect they can hang on until June and make the move, its only a matter of a few weeks now.

That was in response to Peralta's AB. I agree about Bourjos. However, this is a team that is afraid to swing the bat. They walk up there and hope that the pitcher will walk or hit them. I've never seen such a passive baseball team.

Aside from starting pitching they do absolutely nothing right. They can't hit for power or average, they don't run the bases well, they don't have much speed, their defense is terrible, and their situational managing is atrocious.

With Bourjos I'm sure he thinks he has to get on base every time, go 4-5 or he will be sitting on the bench the next game. There is no way that isn't affecting him. And maybe the team.

They see someone hitting and they sit on the bench for Jay or Ellis who are hitting .200.

I'm okay with playing Craig. He has always hit. He's not that old. He still should be able to get around on that inside fastball. But, who needs a 1B who hits singles? Platoon him against righties, call up Taveras. Bench Jay. Give his AB's to Bourjos. He doesn't cut it? Call up Grichuk.

We are a 1/4 of the way through the season. Time to quit waiting for something to happen without changing anything,

WTH? How does an ump get away with crap like that? Bourjos turned around, the ump was the aggressor.

I'm sure that Bourjos and Matheny know that last at bat that ump called out Bourjos on was way off the plate. They must have told him that and he got defensive.

The more I watch this Atlanta team, the less impressed I become. Simmons is the only player they have that plays defense, and their bats have just looked pathetic thus far.
